"Okay. First day of December. 24 more days to go." I mumbled to myself. I trotted around and around in a circle in my room. Mayor mare had asked me to paint a large picture for the town for christmas. Only I had no idea what to paint. I could do a christmas tree……or a pointsetta…or a wraith made of holly. But all these just never seemed good enough.

I sipped my drink and took a bite of hay fries. I sighed and stood up to.go downstairs.

As I decended down the stairs I gazed at all my art I had hanging around. I smiled, wrapped a scarf around my furry neck, and sprung out the door.

The fresh winter air was sharp………although it wasn't winter yet it had already snowed. I trotted along the sidewalk and took a look around.

I saw fillies building snow ponies, stallions plowing the roads free of snow, and………derpy with her tongue stuck to an icicle. I turned to see a large tree already being set up in the town square. Ponies we helping to decorate and I could here Christmas music playing.

I spent some of my time helping those ponies decorate until it was about noon. I saw mayor mare standing by the tree until she caught my gaze.

"Hello painted pencil, how are you on this fine snowy day?" She asked.

"Oh…im fine…just doing the usual." I turned my head to the ground.

"And hows that painting going?" When she said it a lump began to form in my throat.

"It's uh………going well…" she looked at me strangely when I said it but shrugged it off. I slipped away to the paint shop.

a bell jingled at the top of the door as I walked in. The smell of paint filled the room and a friendly cashier who I knew sat patiently at the counter.

"Hey pencil what's up?" She had a cheery smile on her face.

"Oh nothing much. Although I need to find something to paint for mayor mare foe Christmas. Any ideas?" I asked, Hoping she'd have one.

"Well you could paint a snow pony…" she began when the idea hit me.

"I know! I'll paint the tree in the town square with every pony around it! Oh it'll be a lot of work but I'll do it. I'll need your biggest canvas!" She took down a really large canvas and I paid her the bits. I dropped the canvas back at home and went to help work on the weather.

It was a little while later as I was helping to move the clouds. I was standing on top of one of our larger buildings…about three stories high and reaching over to the cloud. A pegasus called out to me.

"I don't know if I'm correct……cause often times Im not…but…couldnt you just fly to fix the cloud?" The pegasus was derpy. Her tongue was red from it being stuck on the icicle.

"Yea I could but the cloud is close enough that I dont need to fl- ah!" My hooves spun around in a circle trying to catch my balance and my wings didn't open soon enough. That's when I hit the ground.
