He was back from his suspension. The first day she saw him after the two weeks was terrifying. He didn't change, but the feelings she tried so desperately to suppress came right back up. He ignored her the entire day and spoke to everyone else around her. But she'd had enough.
She texted him in the afternoon. She needed her answers if he wanted her to move forward with her life. So they talked. And she most definitely received those answers.
He had a girlfriend.
And the girl was furious. He took her kindness, he took her love, he took her understanding, he took her purity, and he left her with nothing. She was empty. In her words, she was pissed off. So, she had made yet another breakthrough.
The girl was done crying over him. She was done moping around because of him. She was done with it all. At least, at school. And she knew just what her plan was.
As lame and untrue as it sounded, "fake it 'till you make it" actually worked for the girl. She dressed up. She laughed. She put up an image that said "I'm okay," and it worked. Strangely, she felt okay. Although she did catch the boy staring at her in her peripheral vision when she talked and laughed, she didn't care. She didn't let it break down her facade. She enjoyed catching his attention. It made her feel powerful. Something she hadn't felt ever since he left.
Now, if only she could keep this up until she truly felt like she didn't need him...
