She couldn't, but, for a second, they were gone. Her negative thoughts, her sulking, her tears. They disappeared. He was hurting severely, and everything that happened in the past didn't matter to her anymore. He looked so drained now, so tired. Why?
She needed to be there for him. To protect him. She wanted to mean something to him. And if she couldn't be his, she wanted to be valuable to him in some form. But all of that went away when he said it the next day.
"You're happy with her..aren't you..."
"Yes."
Why did she do that to herself? She frequently put herself in places that would most likely get her heart crushed. And she cried. And cried.
And cried.
She didn't want to hear it. She knew he was in a happy relationship, and she was glad that he was in a happy relationship.
But she was also glad that he never brought her up around her. In this context, ignorance was really bliss. He never mentioned his new love and for that, she was grateful. But to physically hear that she was no longer the cause of his happiness just hurt her too much.
And all of her progress was destroyed.
