As they were all having breakfast, the next morning after they arrived, the subject soon got to who was gonna be the heir to Vanaheim.
"You must all be training. We'll decide who the heir will be tomorrow. I know it's a party filled month but we just can't wait. The queen will be determined through battle strategy." Styr smiled.
"Really? I mean, can't the throne just go to Iona? She's the eldest after all." Cetune asked.
"That's not gonna be fair." Xytuna explained.
Volstagg laughed for a moment before speaking up, "I'm sure you'll do just fine. I mean, you all are really nice people, and are also really good fighters." He smiled.
"Thank you." Adarae smiled, as she continued having her breakfast.
~
Afternoon had arrived and Adarae had no idea what to do, she didn't really wanna be queen. All that mattered to her was that she was well respected and recognized. She was walking around the living room until two people walked in. Her lady in waiting, Freydis and her close friend, Fandral.
"Nervous?" Fandral asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah. I just-- I don't have the intention of becoming queen! All that matters to me is being a powerful goddess and enjoying life as it is!" Adarae said, laying on the couch, looking up at the ceiling.
"Well, you have to at least try." Freydis sighed.
"I agree with Lady Freydis, I think you should give it a shot. You'll do great. I know of it." Fandral winked.
Freydis rolled her eyes, crossing her arms, "Please, Fandral, don't charm your way into getting her to wanna fight for being queen." She scoffed.
Adarae smiled, before sitting up and facing the two. "Actually, you two have been a great help. I'll make sure to get ready."
Freydis smirked, "Well, you can't train by yourself. That's a bit too...boring."
"Perhaps I can help you." Adarae nodded as Fandral walked out of the room with a grateful look.
The two made it outside. It was quite a sunny day in Asgard. With that, they started their training.
~
Soon enough, the night rolled around. But both of them were too distracted to even notice that they've spent almost the entire day together. Fandral got knocked down time, and time again. He was quite impressed with her skills and energy. They had a final rematch before Fandral had a sword to his neck.
Fandral sighed before dropping his sword, "You're pretty good at this, my lady." He muttered.
Adarae dropped her sword and smiled, "Thank you, for helping me out with training."
"It's my pleasure." Fandral smirked.
"Hey, dinner's ready."
Adarae looked behind her to see Sif and Jane, with a large grin on their faces.
"Alright. Let's go."
They all walked back into the castle and headed to the humongous dining room. As all four of them took their seats, both Adarae's sisters looked straight at her with a knowing look.
Adarae took her share of food before noticing the off stares from some of the Asgardian women from the other tables, as well as her own friends.
"What?" She asked.
"How's training?" Cetune smirked.
"Great. I think I might not have enough time to party." Adarae said, in between pants.
"Okay then..." Iona signed, before continuing to eat.
"How long did you two stay outside for?" Sif laughed.
"I lost track." Adarae sighed.
~
Adarae woke up to light of the sun, shining into her room, through the window, and on her face. She sat up, got dressed and got out the door.
She went into the living room to find her friends, Sif, Hogun, Volstagg, Thor, Jane, Wanda, Loki, Fandral, and her sisters. Adarae took a seat next to Sif and Wanda.
"Hey, today's trial day." Iona smiled up at her sister.
"Yeah, I guess it is." Adarae smiled.
"It's okay to be nervous." Thor shrugged.
Freydis soon came into the room, with a bright smile on her face. "Breakfast, everyone. This time the Kings and Queens will be discussing the trials separately."
We all nodded as we headed to dining room and this time, separated tables. Adarae sat with Wanda and Jane, as they all ate breakfast. She glanced to the far end of the room to see Fandral, surrounded by women, laughing with Thor and the rest of the group.
"You mad that those women are still all over Fandral?" Jane asked, slightly raising her glass of water.
"No I'm just, concerned." Adarae stated, bitterly.
"That one of them might have a chance with him?" Wanda asked, furrowing her eyebrows.
"No, I'm incredibly amazed at the dimwittedness of these women, still falling for his tricks." Adarae rolled her eyes.
"You're just saying that because you're salty," Jane said, making Adarae turn to her in annoyance. "What I'm trying to say is that you're jealous." Jane smiled.
"Oh trust me, I'm not." Adarae crossed her arms.
"Sure." Wanda nodded.
