As everyone gathered out on Asgard's battlefield, Adarae and her sisters looked incredibly nervous and only had their friends' support to cheer them up. There were many Asgardians and their people from Vanaheim over to watch.
"Welcome everyone. Citizens of Asgard and Vanaheim are gathering here today with the three possible heirs to Vanaheim." Odin smiled.
"We are out here today to determine who's worthy of taking the throne of Vanaheim and becoming their new ruler." Styr said.
Odin raised his staff, illustrating an image of a Hel-like dimension. "The first task, set in a dimension filled with lava and extremely hot rock. They'll have to jump through fragments of rock and make it to the second dimension."
"The second dimension is an exact copy of Vanaheim, except they'll have to retrieve three stones with certain symbols that'll teleport them to the next dimension." Styr explained.
"And the third dimension. A sandy battlefield with a surprise. You can only guess." Odin shrugged.
"Good luck!" Odin and Styr said as a flash of light appeared in front of the three. All the sudden the atmosphere increased in temperature as they were surrounded by hot lava and unsturdy rocks.
Without a second thought the three jumped on their own platforms and were going through the current race as the rocks behind them began to fall in the lava.
All the sudden Iona stumbled and was now hanging of the edge of a rock.
"Grab my hand!" Adarae screamed.
Iona followed as the three successfully got to the next dimension.
They got an instant thick fog hit to the face as they crawled on the ground to find rocks. The ground had so many tiny rocks, which made it so much more difficult.
They kept bumping into each other until they found one stone each. The three were all tied and had to get all three to get to the next dimension.
All at the same time, they found the correct rocks and teleported to the third and final dimension, where they were welcomed by three tall warrior maidens who were standing already in stance.
There were three swords placed on the ground as the three instantly grabbed them as the sounds swords clashing were heard.
The battle was not ending. Cetune was quite confused and saw a golden key around each of the warriors' neck.
"The keys!" Cetune yelled.
The three were all aiming for the keys when Adarae got the upper hand of each of the warriors' by almost stabbing the ground causing all of them to fall. Before they could get up three of them placed their feet on each warriors' leg, stopping them from getting up. They all pried the keys off their necks as they were teleported back to Asgard's battlefield.
"And they did it!" Thor yelled, as the crowd cheered from around them.
All the sudden, the queens, Xytuna and Frigga, came out of nowhere with Xytuna holding the crown.
Frigga softly smiled. "We will be giving the crown of Vanaheim over to whom we thought would be worthy of it." There was quite a long pause before Xytuna, placed the crown down on Adarae's head, as the crowd cheered.
"No. I can't." Adarae protested, causing the crowd to go quiet.
"Why?" Xytuna asked.
"I can't. I can't rule over a kingdom I have really no interest in ruling. I want to be something else other than a queen, and I think-- I know exactly who can do that." Adarae soon turned her head to her sisters before placing the crown over on Cetune's head.
The crowd soon whooped and hollared as they cheered louder than ever.
Cetune pulled Adarae into a long hug before pulling away and speaking, "Why'd you do that?" She smiled.
"Because I know how big of a deal Vanaheim is to you, and I know that you would make a great ruler." Adarae smiled.
"Thank you!" Cetune exclaimed.
Their friends, Thor, Loki, Wanda, Jane, Sif, Hogun, Volstagg and Fandral, all came up to them with bright smiles.
"You all did great!" Sif said, jumping up and down.
"Yeah, good job. That's also really kind of you, Adarae." Jane laughed.
"Thanks." She smiled.
"Yeah, I've never seen someone so eager to give up their throne for somebody else." Fandral said, placing a bashful kiss on her forehead, making Adarae smile and not going unnoticed by Sif and Wanda. She didn't really think much of it.
"Looks like you two got along fine and dandy." Wanda chuckled.
"Why not?" Adarae raised an eyebrow, as Wanda smirked a bit.
-
"This incantation is lovely." Fandral smiled as he and Adarae looked up at the ceiling of her room, both of them lying on the floor looking up at the illusion of the night sky.
"I put spells on the rooms I stay in, so I could sleep easily." Adarae turned to Fandral and smiled.
"So . . . Tell me, why did you ask me to come see this instead of any of your sisters?" Fandral smirked.
"Cause I thought maybe you'd be more interested, since you've never tried sorcery before." She chuckled.
They looked up at the ceiling for a good few amount of minutes.
"So, you've ever fallen in love? Like, more than just one of your flings?" Adarae smirked.
"Before. I won't get into context. What about you?" Fandral turned his head to face her.
"Never again. I swore to myself that I would never, I just don't wanna harm myself again. I just don't think anybody with the right mind would love me." She sighed.
"I--"
Fandral was cut off by Volstagg knocking on the door.
"Goodnight, my lady." Fandral planted a small kiss on her warm palm, sending feather like shivers down her spine as he left.
