Emiko POV

I laid down on the couch and watched old reruns of American Horror Story on Netflix . I watched three episodes until I feel into a deep sleep.

* phone rings *

I woke up. I turned over and looked at my phone .

-Unknown Caller-

"huh ? who could this be ?" I said to myself

I turned back over and tried to go back to sleep.

* phone rings *

"ugh , what the fuck "

I answered the phone

"um.. Hello?"

" Emiko?" the voice said .

" yes... and who is this ?"

" My beautiful child. its me " the person said

I paused for a minute .
My name means beautiful graced child , and the only person that I can think of that calls me that is ..

"mom? mom... " i said in shock

the person went silent for a second

" Yes my baby . I miss you more than the world Emiko"

I haven't seen my parents since I left off for college and that was like 4 years ago. I haven't talked to them in forever . Every since the Ray situation I just felt that they were holding a grudge on me and that they just couldn't get over the past .

" Mom. I love you , I miss you so much too."

" So I'm guessing that you called because you heard the news " I said .

" News ? What news ?"

" Wait. so you haven't heard?"

What a relief .

"No I haven't . what is it ? "

I really should tell her . I'm tired of hiding from them. she's going to have to except me and my life . I am grown now , she can't do much to stop me.

" So, I got engaged a month ago and - "

Before I could finish my sentence , she cut me off . as always .

" ENGAGED ! ENGAGED ? Emiko ! So who is this guy anyways? Do you even know him like that ? Emiko really! Aren't you moving a little too fast? "

my mom said in her thick Japanese ascent .

" Mom .. of course I know him . Im not just going to get pregnant by some random man."

" pregnant? what ? you said you're engaged ? Not pregnant . Emiko Lyn , please don't tell me you're having a baby... "

" Pregnant ? I didn't say pregnant ."
