Father

Have you ever seen
A father's beating heart?
How it beats for his children
From their very start.

Have you seen a father cradle
His new born child?
How he stays up at night
Without disturbing his wife.

Have you seen a father sing
A lullaby to his son?
How he holds him dearly
Till the rising sun.

Have you seen a father worry
Over his children's lives?
How he works do hard
To give them all they like.

Have you seen a father patient
As his daughter takes her first step?
How he sits with open arms
Waiting with bated breath.

Have you seen a father proud
When his son wins the race?
How he intentionally slows down
To match his tiny little pace.

Have you seen a father play
Dress up with his princess?
How he feigns a girly voice
As she giggles in a pretty dress.

Have you seen a father cheering
At his son's play?
How he whistles and claps
Full of words with praise.

Have you seen a father content
As his child graduates?
How he claps the loudest
For his success he prays.

Have you seen a father cry
As he hands his daughter away?
How he stays strong with teary eyes
Till she leaves his place.

He works so hard to provide
Now willingly away
Yet he earns to make you happy
That is how his love he displays.

The truth remains that fathers are
A product of what society says
Thus they don't show conventional love
As mothers do in various ways.

A father is a girl's first love
And a son's superhero, they say.
But really a father is so much more
He loves in his own little ways.
