Inspired by “Doomsday”, composed by Murray Gold
The stagnant clock still ticking through
The broken door still creaking to
The room where all my sorrow’s swept
Now time has stopped since you have left
Bare and empty, still so static
Silence breaths a strong erratic
Moan as the mocking window pane
Cracks an image of hearts in twain
Glass, some shattered on the ground
But as I tread no pain is found
Nor blood is drawn, I am two ghosts
Trapped inside a lonesome host
Like a dream, I’m just a passenger
Unknowing of my destination
But who drives on roads paved in fire
Ash entreating suffocation?
I taste that ash in every breath
Like the mention of your name spelt “death”
So I stop breathing, all colour fading
A fleshless spectre’s hand invading
At my throat to let me join you. Pleas
Death ignores with callus freeze
And forces me to breathe once more
‘til I’m destined to be at his door
His thorny hand leads me away
From your mournful negligée
Wrapping and entrapping both
You and I, in frantic loath
Of the word “goodbye” and up the stairwell
Lies resolution, so
With love,
Farewell
