Beneath the Peach Tree

Inspired by “Hanquitan Garden” by Oliviar Shanti

Composed in four parts

I

Beneath the peach tree

The sparkling petals falling

Like comets aflame

Each signifying an ill

Turned faint, dimming, calm, then still

II

The breeze sings softly

A gentle flute on the skin

The wind circulates

Enveloping my body

Whispering content to me

III

The pond turns itself

Making patterns undefined,

Strange and unsettled

But, in time, clears into glass

For my face to pass

IV

I sit contently

Immersed in the elements

Heart and mind settled

Held together by time, closed

From all laments I’m imposed
