-Hermione-

“Come on, Mione”, Harry leaned closer while talking, so it was only audible to me. “Just tell him you´re sorry already.”

I sighed, shaking my head as I watched Ronald rolling up his sleeves as he walked. I had to admit it had gotten quite warm for the season, however, I kept my sleeves down.

“I´m not gonna apologize, Harry”, I rolled my eyes at him.

Ronald had been angry with me for at least four hours now and it took me about two of them to figure out why. Apparently he was mad at me for making fun of him, what I most certainly didn´t do. Lately Ronald was annoying me even more than ever before and wearing the locket didn´t make it easier in any way.

Harry looked at me from the side for a minute until he sighed silently. Shaking his head, he walked faster to walk next to Ronald again. He knew better not to argue with me right now and I was thankful that he didn´t take it personally. The locket dangled around my neck and I took it between my fingers, inspecting it absentmindedly.

It didn´t look very dangerous to me at all. The antique looking amulet was rather beautiful, dare I say it. I ran my thumb over the pale green stone.

“I wouldn´t do that.”

I jumped at the sound of his voice, letting the locket fall back into my sweater. I quickly glanced at him before looking back to the floor and coughing awkwardly.

“What do you mean?”, I asked.

Draco snorted. “Do you really believe I didn´t notice it?”

He carelessly pointed at where he must have imagined the locket to dangle now. I frowned and thought about if I should deny it now or just go with it. I chose the latter.

“Well for sure I didn´t believe you were watching me.”, I answered rather quietly as I didn´t want Harry and Ronald to think something was wrong again.

He shrugged. It was surprising how different his actions seemed now that we weren´t eleven anymore. They didn´t seem mocking and mean all the time. Sometimes they were just common movements, totally random and basically meaningless but they fascinated me. Just now he was kicking away some leaves on the ground. Back in the days it would have been a sign for ignorance and annoyance but now – now he was just simply kicking away some leaves on the ground.

“And why wouldn´t I do that, may I ask?”, I changed the topic, raising my eyebrows.

“I know dark magic when I see it.”, Draco answered and I wasn´t quite sure if I heard a hint of pride in his voice as he spoke those words. “And this is one evil piece of it!”

I looked down on my chest and back to him. I wondered if he knew what the thing dangling around my neck was, what its meaning was and also what we were planning on doing with it. While I was still debating with myself whether to ask or not, my friends had stopped walking.

“Let´s stay here for the night, we´ve come far today.”, Harry announced, his captain of the quidditch team side coming out.

I hadn´t even realized how late it got already but as I looked around I could clearly see dawn was getting close. Automatically I handed Harry the tent that I had pulled out of my little bag as we were already experienced at the process. He and Ron built up the tent while I did the protective enchantments to hide our whereabouts. Draco however didn´t do anything.

As I finished, he was still sitting on the ground, not even thinking of moving just a fingertip. I understood that he didn´t care about us or our safety but it was also in his liking to have a place to spend the night at. Also, if there was one thing I hated so was it laziness.
