Meeting the prince's

I stand in front of the male and two females. The two girls give me bright happy smiles while the guy just stands there and glares at me. "Patton, take your friends and head down into the basement while we get to meet Mr.Black" Patton's mom says.

Patton nods and the three of us follow Patton while the four adults follow Patton's mom to the kitchen. I feel my shoulders tense when I realize that I am going to be alone with four people I don't know. Only a couple seconds later we are all in Patton's basement.

He has a flatscreen tv on the wall, a cabinet full of bored games, another cabinet full of Disney and Pixar movies, a fluffy rug covering the middle of the basement floor, a couch, and a couple of beanbag chairs. "Nice place Patt" the guy says looking through the dvd cabinet. "Well have at it Roman" Patton says and him and the two girls follow the guy, whom I assume was Roman, to the dvd cabinet.

As they are going through movies I sneak back upstairs and listen to what the adults are talking about. "It's been hard on Virgil, he was being abused by his biological parents so I took him in. He hasn't said a word to me." Emile explains and I hear Patton's dad scoff. "That's so disrespectful" he says and I shrink into my hoodie a bit.

"No, he's mute. His biological father made it to where he is afraid to talk so he just doesn't" Dad explains and I hear a murmur of questions follow. I've heard enough and went downstairs to see everyone watching the little mermaid. I hate this movie I think to myself curling up away from everyone to be alone.

Virgil you don't need to hide your feelings, go try and make new friends I hear my older sisters voice in my head. My older sister passed away at the age of 18 due to cancer and whenever I feel anxious I hear her saying anything to keep me calm. Fine I'll take matters into my own hands I hear her voice say before all the lights start flickering.

"What's going on?" I hear Patton say before hearing Roman scoff. "Probably that emo messing with us" Roman says and as the lights come back on I am standing next to Roman with my arms crossed. "Impressive" Roman says and I raise an eyebrow.

"How did you do that?" He asks and I shake my head indicating that I didn't do it. "You too good to talk to me?!" Roman yells slamming me into the wall behind us. "Roman!" I hear both girls yell in unison.

I don't dare make a sound as my back collides with edges of the brick wall. Roman grabs my shoulder and throws me to the ground, he then proceeds to kick and punch me. I lay there taking every blow until finally someone pulls Roman away.

I look up a bit to see Roman's dad and my dad yelling at each other and Roman and his mother and sisters yelling at each other. I feel a hand on my shoulder pulling me to my feet and I see dad trying to keep me steady. "Well, I can see we are not welcome here right now, so we'll go" dad says and I try to keep my footing.

"Good" Roman scoffs crossing his arms but his sister stomps on his foot. Dad storms out making me lose my footing a bit but I quickly catch it again, scared I would get hurt again. When we get home dad sets me on the couch and reaches his hand to my face.

I expect to be hit again so I flinch away quickly, unfortunately it resulted in me hitting the ground. "It's ok" dad whispers helping me stand and looking at the bruising on my face and arms. "Nothing too bad, just some bruising" Dad says with a soft smile but I just look at the ground.

"I'll be back, I need to go have a talk with Mr and Mrs Prince but please rest" He says I nod and lay down on the couch. After a few minutes I fall asleep.
