Veronica's POV
I woke up to the sound of my alarm screaming my ear. I groaned, I was awake for majority of the night worrying about my parents arrival today, as a result I was really exhausted. I sighed as I laid in my bed reluctant to get out, if I get out of bed I would have to face my parents who I could hear were in the living room. Reluctantly, I got out of bed and started to get ready for school, my only motivation is that I could see Betty if I went to school.

After I got ready, I took a deep breath and headed out of my room. As soon as the door opened, I was greeted by the sight of my parents sitting at the dining table.

My mother motioned for me to head over to her and said " Veronica, there you are, are you heading to school now?"

I nodded my head only to receive a punch across my face. I stared at her in shock with tears threatening to leave my eyes.

She shouted angrily at me " IF I ASK YOU A QUESTION, I EXPECT YOU TO ANSWER IT! NOT NOD YOUR HEAD LIKE AN IDIOT, DO YOU UNDERSTAND!?"

I mumbled a quick " yes"

I  was pushed against the cupboard by her, her breath reeked of alcohol and cigarettes.

She slurs "I CAN'T HEAR YOU, AND WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU WEARING?! YOU A DRESSED LIKE A LITTLE SLUT, YOU DON'T EVEN LOOK GOOD WITH ALL THAT FAT. IF YOU ARE GOING TO WEAR THAT AT LEAST BE SKINNER AND PRETTIER."

With that she walked away, I turned to face my father who just sat there the whole time when it was happening.

He looked up at me and said, "You know, your mother's right, if you are going to be wearing that dress, you should be slimmer and prettier. Right now, you are just an ugly dyke who no one wants. You are already such a disgrace to the family name, don't ruin it more by looking like that."

With that he stood up from the chair and pushed me to the ground and started kicking my stomach. I repeatedly pleaded for him to stop but my words just fell on death ears. After a few minutes, he stopped and told me to head to school now or would suffer the consequences of not listening to him

As soon as he said that, I quickly ran out of the house grabbing my trench coat on the way. The punch from my mother was starting to show an obvious bruise on my face, luckily I had still had my bag of makeup from last month when I went to a party. I quickly stood in the corridor outside my house and put some makeup over the bruise. The makeup was able to cover up the bruise fairly well, you could barely tell that there was a bruise on my cheek unless you pay really close attention to my cheek.

I then quickly rushed to school, as I needed to meet Betty in 5 minutes. I hope she doesn't notice the bruise, I didn't feel like being questioned about it. As soon as I reached, I was greeted by a hug. I winced, bruises were already starting to form all over my stomach, and when Betty hugged me the impact made the bruises hurt ten times more than they already was. Betty noticed me wincing and quickly let go.

"V, are you okay? Did I hurt you?" Betty frantically questioned.

"No! No! You didn't hurt me! I'm fine, I just accidentally walked into my table yesterday, I wasn't paying attention to where I was walking since I was distracted by my phone. So it still hurts a little, but other than that I'm fine" I assured her.
*time skip*                                                                                                                                                  It is now lunch time, I quickly went to find Betty for lunch. It is only her today, as Toni and the others had to work on a project. I spotted her from across the hall and quickly rushed up towards her.

"Hey B!" I said when I reached her "Come on! Lets go outside, we wont need the big table today, it's only us, Toni and the others are working on a project."

I dragged her outside and under the big shady tree. She then took out her packed lunch to eat. I watched her as she dug into her meal. I wish I could eat now, I was starving since I didn't eat breakfast today. I took out my phone and scrolled through it to try distract myself from the hunger. After a while, Betty looked up at me and realises that I'm not eating.

"Why aren't you eating? Don't you usually bring a meal along for lunch?" she questioned

"I'm not feeling that  hungry today". That was when my stomach betrayed me and growled loudly.

Betty giggled, "You sure about that Veronica? Because your stomach tells me otherwise"

" Fine!" I said while scrolling through my phone " My parents forced to talk to them when I was in the kitchen, so I didn't have the time I needed to prepare my meal."

"WAIT!" Betty exclaimed, "I thought you said your parents were in New York, when did they arrive in Riverdale?"

My eyes widened when I realised what I had said.

'Shit, I didn't mean to say that!'  I thought ' What the fuck do I do now?'

I gulped "About that" I said
