Loki slammed into the courtyard of the Palace through the huge wooden doors. Multiple maids and gardeners tried to address him, but he simply brushed passed them with a scowl set deeply in his face.

   "Prince Loki-"

"Your Highness! What are you doing out he-"

"Sir, I must insist you return to the palace-"

"Leave me be," the prince growled. The servants all halted immediately, letting him walk quietly past.

Once he was alone in a small alcove, he dissolved. No tears fell, but he anger became obvious as his breathing became unsteady. His black hair, usually neat, was blown around, and his eyes flashed.

His "father" had just insulted him yet again.

"Magic," he said, "is a waste of time. It makes otherwise ordinary people feel entitled. When will you learn to be more like your brother and actually care for the things of our people? Of your people."

Loki had stormed out of the throne room after a rather heated discussion about the failures there were in a magical prince.

"That great, bumbling idiot brother of mine is seen as a warrior, whereas I'm nothing but a failure to him." The prince paced, muttering. He didn't care much for his princely composure as he complained.

Loki didn't see the reason that he had to be so high and holy for a world that wasn't even his own. He knew he didn't belong with the Asgardian people. He knew that they all knew that he was not one of them. He could feel their fear of him when he simply went about in the marketplace near the palace.

The thing that hurt him the most, however, is that his own father, the one that brought him from the Jotuns, considered him to be a mistake.

"Be like my brother, indeed," Loki mocked, putting up an illusion of his older sibling, "Hello, I am the great and mighty Thor. My hair is silky smooth and my hammer is almost as thick as my skull!" He mocked in an exaggeratedly idiotic voice.

"Now, I appreciate the complement on my hair, brother, but Mjolnir is much thicker then my skull, thanks,"

Loki jumped at Thor's sudden appearance, and let the illusion fade.

"Leave me in peace, 'brother'," Loki spat.

"Now, I could do that, but Mother sent me to collect you. She says you're being hostile to the staff."

Loki turned around and scowled at Thor. He did not want to speak with Frigga, however much he respected her.

"Please, Loki. She needs to speak with you," Thor pleaded sincerely.

Sighing, Loki relented and followed his brother back into the palace, much to the relief of the staff.

Once inside his familiar home, Loki followed Thor to their mother's room.
