Secrets Part 2

It wasn't easy growing up in the spotlight. Shawn and Camila knew this better than anyone. Both of them grew up with the paparazzi following them everywhere and creating drama that wasn't needed. It was hell growing up in fame. The media broke people down and belittled them. The media created so much hurt in celebrities' lives that they didn't realize that celebrities were humans too. Instead, the media treated them as if they were exhibits in the zoo. Exhibits that people commented on and judged.

That is one of the main reasons why Camila and Shawn went into hiding. When Camila found out she was pregnant she was extremely happy. Now Shawn and Camila weren't trying to have a baby but if anything the pregnancy strengthened the relationship. Shawn was ecstatic to become a dad. It was something he always wanted to be and the fact that he was having a baby with Camila made it even better.

Throughout Camila's pregnancy, hiding her bump from the public eye was hard.  As the pregnancy continued Camila's bump was getting bigger than normal bumps. At 20 weeks the doctor announced that Shawn and Camila were having twins. Twins were a rare occurrence in both Cabello and Mendes's family.

Camila's pregnancy wasn't easy. She couldn't go outside, scared that she would be bombarded with paparazzi. Scared that somehow her babies would be harmed while going to pick up groceries at the supermarket. So she sent Shawn. He was kept in the public eye, Shawn and Camila wanted to show the fans that everything was ok. With the stress and the hate of the media, it became dangerous for both Camila and the twins to be out in the world publicly.

The media and fans assumed Camila and Shawn had broken up. With Camila's absence in the media and Shawn's rare appearance outside, fans came to that conclusion.

Having twins were harder then you would imagine. It meant double of everything. Double the diapers, double the clothes, and double the trouble. But if anybody was more prepared it was Shawn and Camila. Shawn did everything and anything for Camila. When the due date approached he would time how long it took them to get to the hospital. He baby proofed the whole house. 

Sinu and Keren both insisted that Camila have a baby shower. While Camila disagreed they did it anyway. All of Camila and Shawn's friends were invited, though they kept the circle small not wanting word of the pregnancy to get out.  The baby shower was filled with laughs and games. One of the games was to put a diaper on a baby doll blindfolded. All the guys participated, which included Niall, Brain, Connor, Jordan, and Shawn. Shawn and Jordan were the only ones who did the task. Seeing as Shawn was about to be a father and that Aalyiah made sure Jordan wouldn't drop his niece. Brian had the diaper on the baby's head while Connor had somehow torn the head of the baby off. Shawn looked over at horror. Getting up to go and check on Camila but mumbling along the way that Connor and Brain were never babysitting his kids.

The birth of the twins was eventful. Camila's water had broke in the middle of the night and they both had no idea. It wasn't until Camila felt that the bed was wet that she noticed. Her first instinct was to freak out but she remembered she needed to breathe and alert Shawn. Camila nudged Shawn a couple of times and grumbling out a "let me sleep, woman". But when Camila said that she was in labor, Shawn went into full panic mode. He jumped up and starting running through the house gathering all the bags. He did everything he had to do and had everything he needed. Expect one thing: Camila.

Camila sat on their silently laughing on how Shawn could forget the one thing to birth the twins: Her. Shawn ran back in the bedroom, picking Camila up and taking her to the car saying how sorry he was for forgetting her. Once in the car and off to the hospital, Camila called up Shawn and her family telling them it was time.

After a painful labor, Skylar Rose Mendes and Mateo Paul Mendes was born at 6:07 am on May 26, 2020. They were perfect. Both having a full set of hair and piercing hazel eyes. Skylar was the exact replica of Camila and Mateo was an exact replica of Shawn. The first week with newborn twins was hard but Shawn and Camila got through it.

Time went by fast and before the new parents knew it they were celebrating the twin's 1st birthday. Shawn and Camila were happy and content. They had successfully hidden their children from the world and managed to raise pretty well-behaved children. Overtime the twins grew more and more intelligent and by the time they were 3, they knew everything about the media. Even though Shawn and Camila didn't want the world to know about them they knew they couldn't keep their children locked up forever.

Shawn and Camila finally decided enough was enough when the paparazzi ambushed Aalyiah and Jordan. It was one thing to harass Shawn and Camila but it was another thing if you harassed their family.

The twins had their 4-year doctor's appointment coming up and the two singers thought that that would be a good time to come clean.

The day of the doctor's appointment was hectic. The twins were extra jumpy that day. They wanted to be outside instead of being in the apartment. Shawn and Camila had set up a routine as soon as the kids could walk. Once the kids got up they would eat breakfast as a family and then wind down and watch a movie. That's what was currently happening in the Cabello-Mendes household.

Mateo and Skylar were on the couch watching The Little Mermaid whilst Camila and Shawn got ready. The couple was nervous this was the first time in years that the media would see them together. Camila was scared that the twins would get hurt or worse but Shawn was there to comfort her.

The family of 4 finally made it out of the house an hour before the appointment. Mateo and Skylar both threw a tantrum when they could find their stuffed lambs their father had got them. After Camila and Shawn found the stuffed animals all was right in the world again.

Actually going outside with the twins was scary. The paparazzi somehow got word that they were going to be leaving their house that day. The paps were surrounding the front of the couple's apartment building making it hard not to be seen.

The day went by smoothly. The twin's checkup was good. They were healthy little 4-year olds. Sinu had met up with the family of 4 and they all went to get ice-cream after. Mateo and Skylar were dancing around the ice-cream shop listening to one of their dad's songs.

Camila knew that the media would want an interview. However, she didn't want to give the media what it wanted. After years of the media bashing both Shawn and Camila, she decided she wasn't going to do an interview. Instead she would just kindly tell the media to "fuck off". This was her family and she had the right to decide weather she wanted her kids to grow up the way she did.

The media was pissed that they couldn't get an interview with either parents. But in the end the only thing that mattered was their little family of four.
