It's dark... I can't see anything... "Hello?" I asked, my voice steady. "Come on Rachel..." the mysterious female voice said softly, "Why do you keep getting yourself in these situations?" Im dreaming again... I looked around frantically, still not being able to see anything. "What do you mean?" I asked, courage making it's way back to me. Thank god its just a dream. "You really need to start paying more attention to your surroundings dear, or your future is not going to end well." The voice replied. Frustration rose in me and I groaned, "I'm pretty sure that had nothing to do with my question! What happened?" "Would you calm down? You'll remember here soon enough child. Your gonna be okay, for now. You just really need to not be so... What's the word? Hmm... Stupid." The voice replied, her tone unreadable. "Can you just wake me up already?" I grumbled. There was silence for a moment, but then, "Well if you want to be like that... You do realize I'm your --" she was interrupted by a loud scream. I fell to the ground, covering my ears. The pain was unbearable. I closed my eyes... "Stop!" I yelled. And then I passed out.
My eyes opened rapidly, my heart racing wildly. "Why does every dream have to end with that awful scream..." I mumbled. I turned my head to look at my surroundings... I was in a house... On a bed... Right next to Will... Everything sunk in... I remember what happend... And next thing I knew, my breathing had stopped.
~ FLASHBACK- THE CAFE, YESTURDAY. ~
"So how often do y'all come here?" William said as he looked around the cafe with curiosity. I sighed, "It's kind of like our home away from home. We always come here to munch and just hang out. It's a nice calmer." Yonatan nodded as he looked around the cafe looking desperately for someone to serve him. "Would you knock it off?" I whispered aggressively, "Your embarrassing me!" Yonatan glared at me but then immediately turned his attention to someone else. "Hmm, I guess they got a new employee. I've never seen him before." Yonatan said, pointing to a man serving a table in front of us. The man looked over and eyed me suspiciously, but then looked over to William. "Hmm... That's a little odd. Why does he seem to be concentrating on something... On you." I asked Will. William looked at the man briefly, but then immediately turned his attention back to me and Yonantan "I don't know," he said, "Probably just never seen homeless people before." I sunk back into my chair and raised an eyebrow at him, "What are you embarrassed to be seen with us?" Will rolled his eyes, "Yeah, totally. That's exactly why I'm sitting here with y'all at a very populated cafe. So ashamed." I just shrugged, "I don't know, could be because you pity us." "Believe me you do not have to worry about me EVER pitying you." He teased. I stuck my tongue out at him. "Very mature." He replied, a hint of a smirk on his face. I was about to say something smart, but my thoughts were interuped. "So can I get y'all anything?" The man to whom we were just talking about asked. He was very tall and wore a very fancy suit. He had his black hair pulled back and he looked really young, maybe in his early twenties... The man chuckled, catching me staring at him. I felt my face heat up and I immediately looked over to Will. "How bout you go first!" I asked, my eyes pleading for him to help. He sighed, "I'll take a double hamburger... Two large fries... And a Dr. Pepper please." William said nicely. I just sat there, mouth gaped. "Manners please, no one wants to see inside your mouth Rachel!" William said teasingly, "What's your problem anyway?" Anger erupted inside of me, and before I could say something back, "What's a Dr. Pepper?" A curious Yonatan asked. William looked really shocked. "You... You don't know what a Dr. Pepper is?" "We've never been able to afford crap like that Will." I said, my tone filled with annoyance. "Um are y'all going to order or--" the man was interrupted by Will, "Get everybody here a Dr. Pepper please. Oh and burgers... I have a feeling they have really been missing out." I was about to object, but the waiter had already left. He went to a table across the room. The table included one man sitting by himself. He looked strangely like the man who had just served us... "I just realized, he never told us his name..." William said out of nowhere. I, completely ignoring him, kept my full attention on the man. I noticed him looking over here. I looked away immediately, but out of the corner of my eye I could see him pointing at us, then vanishing into the kitchen. "Do you by any chance know that man?" I asked william, who just shook his head. "Nope." "Could you, like, read his mind or something?" He looked up at me with annoyance, "Well I mean I could." My face brightend up, "Would you?" He chuckled, "if you really want me too. Don't see why not." I smiled at him shyly, "Thank you."
