I was hanging out by the candy counter with Maddie, London, and Cody when Zack ran over to us.

"Hey, guys, watch this," he grinned as he pulled out a small device that made a farting sound with a push of a button.

While Esteban was helping with some guests' luggage, it appeared he was farting when he wasn't. I giggled softly, but felt bad that the bellhop was the butt of the joke.

"No. Oh, no. That was not me," Esteban told the couple he was assisting.

Zack pressed the button again, causing people around to think the poor bellboy had eaten something earlier that didn't agree with his intestines.

"Esteban, you may excuse yourself," Uncle Marion told him, and Zack pressed the button, sending another fart noise. "Quickly, please! We will discuss your dietary habits later."

"Oh, Mr. Moseby. The gassy noise is not me," Esteban explained.

Zack sent out another fart sound.

"Leave," my uncle told Esteban.

"Okay," Esteban complied.

Zack started pressing the button, making it look like Esteban was farting every time he took a step. I noticed the bellboy reaching into his back pocket and pulling out a small speaker. That explained how everyone around heard the farting sound.

"Zack, I'm a little tired of your impractical jokes," Esteban turned to him with a stern expression.

"Sorry," Zack apologized.

Esteban walked away, and Zack pressed the button one last time. Our group started giggling.

"Man, that was awesome," Zack smiled at the rest of us. "Almost as funny as this morning when Cody got so scared."

"I wasn't scared," Cody snapped at his twin.

"You were white as a sheet."

London gasped. "Don't tell me you saw the ghost in Suite 613."

"There's a ghost in the hotel?" Zack wondered.

"Yeah."

"Cool! Let's go see it."

Zack rushed to the elevator.

I had heard rumors that one of the hotel's suites was haunted. Uncle Marion had a freaky experience in Suite 613 when he first started working at the Tipton. However, I assumed it to be another Bostonian urban legend that only tourists get stoked about checking out. I recalled hearing that someone died in one of the suites some decades ago. The thought of being in the room where a person took their last breath before dying haunts me.

"Uh, maybe later," Cody wasn't keen on heading there.

"What's the matter?" Zack came back over to his twin. "Afraid?"

"No, I just had lunch. And...you're supposed to wait an hour before diving into the supernatural."

"Codes, there's nothing supernatural about that suite," I shook my head.

"There's no such thing as ghosts," Maddie assured him.

"Wrong, as usual," London sneered at her and turned to the rest of us. "I've seen this ghost. It was so scary, I dropped my new purse...and left it there."

"With money in it?"

"Oh, just the regular $1,000 bill every kid gets for an allowance."

Maddie, the twins, and I raced each other to the elevator.

"Dibs!" I called out, thinking of the number of books, DVDs, and games I'd buy with the money.

"Hey! Just 'cause I don't need it doesn't mean it's not mine!" London shouted as she caught up with us.
