As soon as Buttercup got off the car, she ran home, looking back every now and then to see if anyone was following her.
She wouldn't have left if it were any other circumstance, she felt like she owed Butch too much, and she had a boyfriend who loved her. As much as she wanted to repay Butch, she knew he could never return the feelings she had for him, since it wasn't like before.
Oh how she longed for them to be together again.
It was cheesy alright, but she just missed him. It was a shock to see him in the club that first night they saw each other again, and it was weird, but after the they talked, it felt like there would be a chance for them to be together.
Buttercup unlocked the door, and seeing as there seemed to be nobody inside after pushing it open, she walked in, taking off her shoes to not make a clicking sound as she walked.
'Babe?'
His voice echoed through the small apartment.
Buttercup could feel a chill at her spine, so he wasn't out. 'Yes?' She replied, she didn't want to, but it was better if she did.
Buttercup tiptoed through the hallway to the kitchen. And upon entrance, saw her boyfriend.
She gulped.
'So where have you been?'
'Work.' She responded quietly.
'Alright, I'll believe you for now. But if I find out you're lying, I'll do worse things to you than last time.'
Her boyfriend put down the stick he was clutching before onto the kitchen table and walked out.
Buttercup breathed out, and rubbed her eyes, still tired from the walk over to the apartment, that was uphill. If her boyfriend found out where she was the whole night he'd never hesitate to put a knife to her throat, he knew she wouldn't do anything, she did too.
She slumped on the sofa in the corner of the room and tried to think of what happened this whole time.
Buttercup rubbed her temples and massages them, trying to make herself think, her boyfriend would soon find out she wasn't at work, and he didn't seem to buy it either, so she needed a plan, and quick.
Suddenly, a thought ran into her mind and Buttercup leapt up to fumble through her bag.
'Where is it? Where is it? Where is- there it is!'
She was so glad she didn't lose it, or she's get another beating again.
Buttercup held the ring up to the ceiling light.
How it shone in the light, how much her boyfriend loved her.
No, fiancé .
