Romance had never come naturally to Han Shangyan.

The former Gun God was a master of many things; he was a bona fide programming whiz kid, a CTF legend made myth and also a Tetris extraordinaire (even if he did say so himself.) Nevertheless, despite his numerous accolades, the fairer sex and their mysterious nuances had always managed to escape Han Shangyan - he was more than aware that he was far from perfect in that regard. In fact, in the game of love and affection, he was a complete noob. A novice in way over his head, far too low level to understand the delicate dance that relationships required. Gun was beyond sure he wasn't cut out of the right cloth to be anyone's boyfriend, let alone their husband. There was nothing at home in his chest anyway, it was an empty cavern of bitterness and desolation. Like it or not, his grandfather would one day just have to wake up and smell the tea - the former CTF legend was about as interested in dating as shaving off his own eyebrows.

His lack of experience had been knowledge that Gun had held loosely in the back of his mind, a shortcoming that he was vaguely aware of but rarely bothered by. It was an area that required some attention in the distant future, but on the whole, it was largely inconsequential to his daily life. His debilitating disability regarding romance had never presented much of a problem for him, in all honesty; at his age, Han Shangyan was a seasoned expert at dodging his grandfather's misguided matchmaking attempts. It took little more than a glare and a few sharp words from the black clad, stone faced idol to have any ill advised suitors running for the hills with their tails between their legs. Han Shangyan didn't need love. Han Shangyan also didn't need romance. It was a weakness that had cost him his career all those years ago, and he wasn't as soft as Solo. Call it a lesson learned; the ex player was adamant that all he needed was K and K and the promise of a national championship. That was his dream and anything else was an unwelcome distraction - he had absolutely no intention of finding himself a girlfriend. Han Shangyan was perfectly content to simply go through the motions to appease his ageing grandfather. His work was enough to keep him fulfilled.

That was until Tong Nian exploded into his life in an avalanche of pastel pink and almost indecently short skirts.

The tiny fairy princess had been something of a nuisance at first; admittedly, she had been an exceedingly attractive pest, one that he in theory had wanted to bat away but couldn't muster the strength to do so. She had torn through his life with the energy of a bejewelled tornado, charmingly bright eyed and bushy tailed. Her attention and the way she looked at him like he was king of her universe... he had been flattered and he was ashamed to admit that he liked it. Han Shangyan could as much deny this as he could halt his own pulse in his chest; it was ironic that all it had taken was one look at her to set his heart racing with an unfamiliar sense of excitement.

The Boss was certain he would never be able to forget the first time he had laid eyes on Little Squid, so small and endearingly innocent in her pink fluffy coat and her white cat eared headphones. It was actually Nian Nian's headphones that had first snagged his attention; Gun had always had a penchant for felines and her unusual accessory had caught his eye despite himself. Once the older man had noticed her, it had been pretty much game over for him; he was as strong willed as they came but it was altogether impossible to forget her. Tong Nian was as pretty and dainty as a China doll - she was almost too lovely to be real, and the more he got to know her, the harder it had been to keep from being dragged under. Nevertheless, Nian Nian's face was what had captured his interest initially but her personality was what had held it. The girl was electric and he was hopelessly caught in the spell she had woven over him. Tong Nian had her own unique brand of magic that seemed to have irrevocably pulled Gun's trigger.
