For the first time in her whole twenty years of existence, Tong Nian was one thousand percent certain she didn't like someone.
The usually fluffy fairy princess didn't care for this unexpected, extremely annoying Zhou Shan one little bit, if she was entirely truthful. It wasn't a sensation that she particularly relished, but there was only so far the usually mild mannered young student could be pushed - was she supposed to keep smiling and holding her tongue when such a detestable old hag was batting her eyelashes at her Han Shangyan? It made her fingers itch with the uncharitable urge to pull the other woman's artfully curled hair in a fit of unprecedented pique. It was so unlike her; Nian Nian was a prodigy in her own right, and it was sobering to realise she had no discipline whatsoever over her rogue emotions. She couldn't help but to feel on edge every time the stupid woman flashed her glittering, sinisterly devious grin in the K and K boss' direction. Such blatant flirting sliced into the younger girl like a serrated knife; Nian Nian's only consolation was that her precious Gun seemed as aloof and distant as always. It was a small relief that she could always rely on her ice prince to act as frosty and haughty as expected. Thank heavens for small mercies. Thank heavens for Han Shangyan's legendary poker face.
Unbeknownst to the K and K leader, Tong Nian had been secretly hopeful deep down that the spontaneous weekend away would be a turning point for their relationship. It had been his idea, hadn't it? Slowly but surely, the legendary Gun God seemed to be warming up to her, if only fractionally - was it so unreasonable for the younger girl to hope that he had called her to the luxurious hotel resort to get to know her a little better and solidify their connection? Little Squid was almost embarrassed to admit it even to herself, but she couldn't help but to dwell on what other couples would be doing when visiting such a romantic location. They would be splashing playfully about in the sea, taking meandering moonlight strolls and spending the nights lovingly entwined in each other's arms... Nian Nian jumped visibly as her train of thought rapidly careened off track, scaring her with unexpected suggestions. Did she... did she really want to consider doing that with Han Shangyan? She was getting way ahead of herself!
Tong Nian's cheeks warmed dramatically as her uncharacteristically salacious thoughts filtered into her subconscious, freezing her fingers in place on her keyboard. The tiny young girl squeaked involuntarily, a surprisingly high pitched trill ringing about the room as her head whipped from side to side in a futile attempt to expel such notions. You need to get your mind out of the gutter, Tong Nian... Little Squid was brought crashing unceremoniously back to earth from her daydreams when DT coughed pointedly, clearly throwing her a non-verbal warning. Nian Nian's cheeks flooded from rosy pink to hearty scarlet as she slowly swivelled in her seat only to meet the stares of twelve curious boys and also the stoic gaze of the very handsome object of her affection himself.
Gun raised a dark, charmingly winged eyebrow at her quizzically as he leaned casually against the back of Demo's chair, so graceful and effortlessly good looking - it almost hurt to look at him. It was like looking into the epicentre of the sun and it scorched her just as intensely - her blood was racing heavily in her veins as his dark eyes flitted over her inquisitively, as warm and palpable as a summer's breeze. In his usual uniform of raven black and his inky, slicked back hair, Han Shangyan was as languorous and striking as a panther - he certainly exuded the same regal energy. Little Squid's lashes cast long, oblique shadows down her flushed cheeks as her gaze fluttered towards the gleaming wooden floor, unable to meet his questioning gaze head on - why was it he always without fail seemed to be within earshot when she made an unparalleled fool of herself? Why oh why did Buddha frown upon her? Nevertheless, the flustered computer prodigy couldn't be sure if her usually sharp eyes were deceiving her - had she simply imagined the hint of a smile dancing in Gun's eyes whilst he mocked her silently? Nian Nian bit her lip sheepishly, her cheeks still warm as she turned back to face her laptop screen, a combination of residual shame and frustration trickling down her spine as her own brow puckered in consternation.
