It was always said that the quiet ones couldn't be trusted.

Wu Bai, otherwise known as the infamous Captain DT of Team K and K, could hardly be described as a people person. He was a Wu by name but a Han by nature; he was as famously cool and collected as his older cousin, an enigma made flesh and blood. Quiet was his most dominant personality quirk, truth be told; it kind of came naturally to Wu and Han alike. It was something of an inheritable trait; with the exception of their grandpa, the Han men had always been notoriously tight lipped and stony faced. Words were meaningful and should only be spoken when relevant or needed; it was a belief both DT and Han Shangyan, his older cousin and also his boss, shared alike. It was for this reason the pair found it so easy to live together, although DT was acutely aware that his naturally standoffish demeanour didn't endear him to many other people. Except for Grandpa, of course. However, it was his assumption that if the world didn't appreciate him for who he was as a person, then they were not really worth bothering with to begin with. Some people even feared Wu Bai and his silence; it had always secretly amused him a little. They really had nothing to be afraid of - but it wasn't like he was going to tell them.

Heedless, mindless chatter wasn't something that DT deemed strictly necessary; if a picture was worth a thousand words, then surely his CTF expertise was worth an entire novel? Small talk was not his forte, he just didn't understand why some people felt the inexplicable urge to fill every single silence with relentless noise. The word Demo sprang to mind... It wasn't that Wu Bai despised others, it was just that he was comfortable in his own company. Surely there was nothing wrong with that? Where his team members were tenacious fire, DT was unobtrusive oxygen; it was this combination that made them work so well together. They may sometimes be at loggerheads, but all of they were first and foremost a team. They needed one another to thrive; each and every one of them would burn out without the other. K and K needed each other to survive, they were brothers in the truest sense of the word; a tight knit group, a family bonded through blood, sweat, tears and competitiveness. Once you were in, you were in for life, and the rest of K and K would have your back through thick and thin. That was just the way it was, and in DT's humble opinion, it was exactly how it should be.

It was for the above reasons that even the ever elusive Captain DT felt his hackles rise reactively when a visibly agitated Tong Nian drifted through the double doors of K and K, seemingly lost in her own thoughts and wearing an uncharacteristic frown.

The dark, clouded look on her face didn't suit her one bit, and it instantly caught his attention; why would such a happy go lucky girl suddenly look like her world was shaking beneath her feet? Did his cousin know that his precious little girlfriend had arrived? Or was it because of Shangyan Ge that Tong Nian looked like she wanted to cry in the first place? It was impossible to rule out blame on his cousin's part entirely; after all, DT had been there when Gun's relationship was still only for show and barely burgeoning. He had been there for it all. It had been comical for the boys of K and K to witness how their fearless leader had stumbled blindly along the path to love, and they were not above rubbing the inexperience in their Boss' face when his mood permitted. It was actually quite heartening to know there was something his older cousin didn't excel at immediately. Shangyan Ge was still learning the ropes but it was undeniable that his razor sharp edges had softened considerably - he was a dagger that had finally been sheathed. Tong Nian had achieved the impossible - she had humanised Han Shangyan and they were all remarkably thankful to her for it. It certainly made their lives easier!

Right from the very beginning, DT had been able to see, plain as day, how deeply his secretive cousin was attracted to the girl with the glittering eyes and smile like sunshine. It had been evident to anyone blessed with sight; Han Shangyan's poker face wasn't infallible after all. The once indifferent leader had become an ever present watch dog standing guard over a guileless kitten. He possibly didn't even realise how he watched her constantly like a hawk; it was as though Tong Nian was the celestial star that burned in the centre of his solar system. Not that Gun God would ever admit it aloud, of course. For reasons known only to himself, Han Shangyan had not treated the young girl well initially, despite how obviously besotted she was with him. His treatment of her had been quite undeserved in the captain's humble opinion; DT had actually been acquaintances with Tong Nian long before she had even known Shangyan Ge existed, and she was nothing if not a delightful girl. Sharp as a whip with a sense of humour to match - she had been able to give him a run for his money during their long passed high school ACM tournaments, and he had always respected her talent. Shock horror - even he, the unthaw-able ice prince, found Tong Nian tolerable. Perhaps he even found her likeable - so sue him!
