Preface

Sitting inside a decaying ambulance, He'd have never even dreamt that a mysterious virus will ruin his vacation. A virus - existence of which threatened the existence of humanity.

Paramedics, wearing gloves, glasses, masks, shoe covers, white hazmat suit - the full Personal Protective Equipment kit, surrounded him. He was the only one without a PPE kit. All he had was a mask. As his heart pounded, sweat dribbling from his head blurred his vision. The thought of not wearing a PPE kit was eating him from the inside. He must have thought it was the biggest mistake of his career, but the worst was yet to come. As ambulance drove through the fractured roads of this city, pothole after pothole, it felt like a never-ending roller coaster - destination of which was certain but coming back from that destination was not.

As ambulance came closer to the destination, the uproar of people grew louder and louder - though the howling of the engine of this ambulance masked this noise. Destination arrived. Ambulance stopped. Engine turned off. He opened the door in reluctance. Smell of rotten blood pierced through his mask, as he saw - thousands of people yelling: "Let us in. Let us in."

People of all ages were there. Children. Adult. Elderly. Some of them had masks over their faces. Those without mask used tissue, napkin, or even hands. Some were sick. Some were on the verge of death. Some were vomiting blood and rotten food that they had eaten. Police could barely hold them off. Some, who looked healthy, were supporting their family, their friends, or children - holding them in their hands, on their shoulders - not realizing that soon they will also be in the dire need of support. There's no question about it.

As he saw this scene, he realized that not wearing a PPE kit was the least of his problem.
