"You've already gone on a date Naomi. Mind as well ask him to the Sadie Hawkins dance." Leah says, impatiently.

I lean against the locker beside hers and shrug. "Why do you want me to so badly?" I question her. She suddenly tenses. "I just want you to be happy Nae Nae. And Colton does that. I'll ask someone if you ask him." She decides.

I laugh. "Fine. Who are you asking?" She grins. "Duncan." She informs me. I laugh and hook my arm with hers. We walk down the hallway and round the corner. My book falls from my arms and my jaw hits the floor. Leah follows my gaze and gasps.

Alyssa has her arms hooked around Colton's neck and her lips against his. I watch for a moment, hoping Colton will push her off and say he has eyes for someone else. But it never comes. His arms are holding her tight to him by her waist. Tears prick my eyes.

Leah's fists clench. "That ass." She hisses. I don't bother stopping her or protesting when she drags me over to them. "Colton Douglas." She sneers. He pulls away from Alyssa quickly and freezes when he sees me. "Nao-"

"Don't speak to her. You've lost that privilege." Leah orders. She steps in front of me and crosses her arms over her chest. Alyssa scoffs. "Seriously? Come on Colt." She says. Colton brushes off the hand she lays on his arm.

Disappointment flashes in her eyes. "I should just hire a sniper on you." She hisses at me.

I blink back tears and drop my staring contest with Colton to look at her. "We have connections to get the sniper off me Lys." I say. Alyssa and I were best friends up until third grade to be honest.

We planned to have our parents meet and when they did...well her mom banned her from speaking to me. It ended in an argument between my mom and Courtney. Alyssa and I have been in an unspoken war ever since.

Alyssa stares at me. "My second cousin is a cop. Maybe I'll set you up and have him arrest you then." She taunts. I shrug. "Go ahead. We have enough money to bail me out." I say. She huffs and stomps away. "Can I explain?" Colton asks me. Leah places a hand over his mouth.

"Shut up Colton." She demands.

He pleads at me with his eyes. Should I let him explain? I'm sure he has a good explanation. And it's only fair...

"Fine. You have five minutes." I say, sighing. Leah drops her hand and stares at me in shock. "You're giving him a chance?" She asks. I shrug. She sighs extra loudly and pats my shoulder. "Okay my naive child. Good luck." She waves her fingers and struts off. "Speak." I demand.

Colton frowns. "Okay I really have no excuse. Well I do, sort of, but now thinking about it, it sounds incredibly dumb." He says. I don't speak. I just silently stare at him. He groans and runs his fingers through his hair.

"After the date on Friday you've been clouding my thoughts endlessly. It's like, Naomi Cooper this and Naomi Cooper that. I needed to get you out of my mind Super Girl. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have kissed Alyssa but I couldn't help it. She was there and I needed a distraction from you." He says in a rush.

I snort. Colton stares at me weirdly.

"Why are you laughing?" He asks cautiously. I shake my head and smile bitterly. "Because that was way better than the typical cliche, she forced me thing. Much more entertaining." I say coolly. He flinches like I punched him.
