Cold droplets of rain fell upon the trio as the moved along. A forest of trees only known in legend extended its limbs out far and beyond.
"Is this the place?" Hyunjin asked.
His hands buried in his pockets as his body felt colder and colder, even with the protective spell over him.
"Either find hunters or one of ours," Minho said as he sliced a tree branch clean off.
"Athena's son," Chan said. "His guardian made sure the child was conserved and protected. The powers of his mother were considered a blessing of the dying of the Gods"
"But they never came," Minho said. "Just like with us. No child would receive an ounce of glory unless the memory was forcefully erased."
"Followers of the gods made it so their power remained concealed and untouched. Leaving it in its rawest form" A voice said from behind a tree.
Minho took his stance as the blades seemed to burn up ever so slightly upon an attentive gaze.
"Ah.." the person let out. "Ares' blood does sure run through you."
The person stepped out. A hood covered his features and frame. But the three children would be damned if they didn't recognize their own.
"Your training has made those blades work like magic," Woojin said as he lifted his hood, droplets of water falling on his skin.
"However, I would like to warn you," He said.
Hyunjin turned his head as an arrowhead stopped right next to his cheek. A gasp escaped his lips as he tumbled back in complete shock.
"Jisung and Seungmin were also looking for me," Woojin said. "Or I found out right before that arrow left its bow."
Chan sighed. The two other individuals stepped forward, weapons drawn. The gold bow that Artemis crafted for his children shined in a dull color. The bows contrasted greatly with the magical object, as they were regular wood crafted into projectiles meaning to cause harm.
Seungmin carried a similar weapon, only that the roles were reversed. The bow was a handcrafted piece that shot beautifully woven arrows that could only come out of Apollo's hands.
"The calling was the same" Woojin said, the other children turning their attention. "It's time for us to challenge a prophet's words"
"I'm surprised you didn't go after the messenger of the Gods," Jisung said coldly. His previous feeling seeping through his words like poison. "That fool would have given better answers"
"The Prince of the Underworld is our main objective right now," Woojin said. "And the New King of the Sea."
His tone perked Chan's ears up. He turned to Woojin taking a few steps forward.
"I am to refrain from saying" He spoke. "But it's better to find the rest before daring step foot against the youngest child"
Chan nodded.
"Do you have a home or cottage we can take refuge in?" Hyunjin asked, only to receive a negative response.
"I lived on the sealed off parts of this forest, but after my mother's power surged into my veins, I was kicked out for good" Woojin said.
Only then did Chan see a leather covered book in his hands, clutched on his chest.
"I saw another traveler," Jisung said. "But they somehow evaded my arrows"
Something in his tone sounded disappointed. Somber. Regretful.
Woojin lowered his head.
"The forest is filled with extraordinary people," He said in a voice barely above a whisper. "It could be one of the many that I have yet to count"
Chan nodded. A surge of electricity pierced through his skin. He let out a groan as he held onto his arm. Small droplets of a dark liquid went down his hand, yet he knew it was not blood.
The worried gazed of his companions left him vulnerable. His embarrassment of such a display of rejection always left a dent in his own self. The only child to see his father's hand weave a rejection, torture to those souls surviving of his blood. Hercules, a reminder of his future and destiny, in death and flesh.
"A call of fruitless fighting," Seungmin said. "This is the very thing I can see through"
Jisung frowned as he tried to understand the many gazes. The sympathy and consolation laced with admiration and patience. His own face grew hotter as his emotions seemed to sip even more through his system.
"What are we to do now?" Hyunjin asked.
"There is 9 of us out there," Woojin said. "We still need to find the other three"
Hyunjin could feel his head burning. Skull pulsating as his brain seemed to harden. He let out a cry as he fell to his knees.
Woojin rushed to the younger's side as water fell right on his back. Jisung, Minho, and Seungmin stood around the other three. Drawing weapons with intention of murder. Anything moved, it died.
Hyunjin let out an even louder cry, lifting everyone's nerves to a peak.
The older males tried to take hold of the boy but his movements became violent and out of his control.
"We have to take him to healer" Woojin announced. "Seungmin's powers are yet to reach their helping hand"
Chan places Hyunjin's hand over his shoulders, ready to carry his friend. Drops of sweat had already formed on his porcelain-like skin.
"We'll get secure the area" Jisung ordered. "You take him to the small cabin up North."
"Belladonna and Coal" Seungmin added.
Woojin nodded.
