Minho stood his ground as liquid fire burned through his veins. Sparta was a domain that his father never doubted. And his defeated son was crossing its gates.
Woojin blinked as an image ran through his eyes. A young boy. Maybe 6 or 7 was dragged down to the depths of a dungeon where monsters and demons were locked down until their day of execution.
His eyes locked into his hands. Dirt and grim seemed to be permanently rooted in his skin as the smell of death entered his nose.
The had grown up a couple of years by now, sitting alone in a dark quiet cell. No movement. No thinking.
Woojin blinked out of the boy's mind and felt himself grow heavier. He found Jeongin.
Minho let out a set of heavy breaths as he pushed the rusted gates open. The sound echoed through the empty city as his body began to fill up with raw rage.
"Beware Medusa's children," He said.
Woojin stepped forward as he looked around.
"We have to take different routes," He said. "It's better to cover more ground. Jeongin may be somewhere underneath a baker's house."
"There's no baker's house in Sparta," Minho said as he looked forward.
A huge temple extended its way out of the ruins. His father's throne was just as he remembered. A temple built on salt and soil that contained the head of the God of War. All the while holding onto Medusa's gifted head.
The chains of his blade seemed to seer their way into his skin.
"We'll go east," Woojin said. Hyunjin and Seungmin nodding their heads as they followed the older child.
"We have one destination," Minho said, still not prying his eyes away from the closest thing to his father. "Sparta's throne"
The rest of the boys looked at each other. Felix and Jisung walked west on their own.
Chan nodded as he stood next to Minho, his eyes noticing the red irises that shook with pure Spartan rage.
Hyunjin held onto the wall as a way of going around. The city looked the same from every angle, buildings only changing in the heart of the city, where a temple rose over to cast its shadow of disapproval over every one of his soldiers.
"Most buildings are rested to rot" Seungmin mentioned, "there is nothing"
"There must be something we can use," Woojin said.
Only then did a man come into their field of vision. His skin had a heavy set of scales that seemed to rest in between skin and bone. Grunts and groan came out of him as he limped his way from their left to their right. The children stayed still.
"Medusa's children" Hyunjin mumbled.
As the noise subsided, a perfectly looking human walked the same path. Only this one, turned his head.
The trio waited a few seconds until the man ran at them, his eyes lost in a pearly white color that shined even under a shadow.
Seungmin began shooting arrows as pieces of wood floated up and shot themselves clumsily at the moving figure.
Hyunjin suddenly extended his hand and the man stopped.
"You are to subside," he said.
The man fell to his knees with no questions asked. His body was relaxed and limp.
"You are to leave this place at once" he commanded.
The other two children stared at the scene in shock. Did Aphrodite have hypnotic powers?
"Sparta...." the man choked out.
Woojin frowned as he entered the man's brain. His own eyes turning a crystal blue.
"This is Ares' doing," Woojin said. "He has used the head of Medusa as a guarantee that his soldier would never leave his command. Even after his death"
"Then kill him," Hyunjin said. "No one deserved to live like that"
Seungmin took a deep breath as he neared the man. His fingers turned a soft amber as he reached for the man's chest. He located the heartbeat and stopped it.
The man fell onto the sand with a soft thump.
Seungmin could feel a surge of energy go through him.
"We have to tell Chan," Hyunjin said.
Woojin half into his arm.
"Not right now." He reasoned. "Not with Minho's state"
"Then what do we do?" Seungmin said nearing the duo.
"We find the head," Woojin said.
