(November,2014)

I wake up with a start. My body soaked in sweat. Hello one thousandth same dream of the year. Lord have mercy, these dreams are just wrecking me. 16 years I've been having these dreams where I'm something more than myself, well where my world is something more than itself. Plus if we are being honest, I've never really had anything special about me or the world I live in. I grew up in the downtown part of the bronx, where crime is always around and you have to be alert. The only exciting thing in my life is the one dream I have constantly, days on end. I'd always tell my father but he'd always deny it saying "Oh its probably a bad dream." But I know...I know its always just felt so...real. Every night I'm in that same world. Today though...I intend to find on finding out what's going on.

I get up and out of bed, walking to the bathroom. I jump into the shower trying to recollect my thoughts from the dream but, just like everytime, I never can. Turning off the shower, I dress up into my clothing for school, and head to the kitchen where my father, Alex Sapphire, stands making breakfast for the both of us.

"How was sleep Mira?" My father asks as he serves my breakfast.

"Same." I say as I poke my food. I still can't get the dream out of my head. So vivid. My dad comes to eat with me but comes closer scanning my face.
"Mira. You look really bad. Guessing that dream wasn't all too good." He says, looking at my dark baggy, eyes.

"Yea. Not so good." How did I forget that he can always tell my face? Within the few minutes of silence I look up and already see Dad gone. Not even a kiss this time. I sigh and head over to my start to get ready, pacing up my textbooks

I jump at the sound of a knock on my window. It's Lillian Black, my best friend in the world. She's been living alone ever since her father died and her mother was no where to be seen. She was there for me when my mother pasted away when I was four. Everytime I come across that day everything is blurry but that time when Lilly hugged me and comforted me.

"Mirabella, what happened to you?" I give her a startled look and she smiles sheepishly, shrugging her shoulders. "Sorry for the intrusion. But seriously, what happened? You look tired."

"Its nothing. I mumble.

"Um it doesn't look like nothing" She stares me down. "Mira..."

After a long hard stare down, I give in. "It was just a dream. Same dream that I always get. Happy now?" After a long moment of silence and Lilly's questioning look, she speaks. Her voice so serious, it seems deadly. "When did this start?"

"Since I was four. In every dream I was in this world. I don't know why but it feels so real, and now it's getting worse. I can literally feel the aurora surrounding me. It's like it's calling me there." I let the words spill out. That's when the silence hits again.

"Hmph..." Lilly says after careful thought.

"Lilly...what's that 'hmph' supposed to mean?"

"I think we need to show you something."

"Who's 'we'?" She doesn't answer just starts walking to the door and I feel that I have no other choice but to follow.

The ride seems to last forever. Every time I keep trying to ask Lilly where are we going, she replies "Somewhere." Yes like that helps. Lilly's phone buzzes and I grab it before she can get it. "Mirabella Marie Sapphire give me my phone."

I fake a pout. "You never call me by my full name. That's a bit hurtful to place my name such a spiteful tone, now if you can please get back to driving, no texting." I smile wickedly and look at the phone as I hear her deep breath of anger. My smile fades as I see a password. "Come on unlock it!" She snatches the phone away from me. "No. Now please shut up. I'm driving." I cross my arms over my chest, a look of anger displayed across my face. "I'm going to find out what's going on one way or another."

"That's the plan."
