Y/N's POV:

It was the day of my duet, well... solo now. I told Jungkook that he doesn't need to help me, nor should he show up to watch. I knew what I said would hurt him, but it was the best for both of us. Mark was supposed to leave his tour early to come to listen, but I don't know if he is going to keep his word or not. I'll understand if he can't.

"Y/N, I need you to go get dressed," Gi demands, pushing me into my bathroom. "You perform in an hour, and it's going to take me at least thirty to get your hair and makeup done."

When I put on my dress while Gi rushing to do my hair and makeup, I got a call. It was Jungkook, so I told Gi to not answer it. He kept calling, Gi kept pressing ignore.

"Wanna take a few pictures? Maybe post the best one on your Instagram?" She asks me, grinning.

I nodded, handing her my phone. She always complained about her phone camera sucking, so she always uses mine. I am surprised I still allow this mess between us. Honestly, I kinda do miss it. When she and I did live together, we, just us, would go out and walk around, taking pictures.

"How does it look?" I ask, fixing my dress after my pose. "Please tell me we don't need any more pictures."

"We don't," She smiles. "It's perfect. Want me to post it?"

"Sure," I nodded. "Thanks, Gi."

I grabbed my phone back, watching as she quickly finds my account on her Instagram. I got a notification saying she liked it.

Gi and I separate from each other, heading different ways as we walked in

Gi and I separate from each other, heading different ways as we walked in. She meets our group in the crowd, and I go backstage to speak to my manager.

"Where's Jungkook?" He asks, moving around nonstop. "He was supposed to-"

"He's not coming," I respond. "Sorry to break it to you."

"Why not?!"

"He... doesn't want to." I lied, swaying back and forth on my heels.

"Liar," He laughs, shaking his head. "Fine. Just go out on stage when I introduce you and your 'duet' song."

I nodded, showing that I understood.

"HELLO, EVERYONE!" Sang yells, causing everyone to cover their ears. "Oh, oops... I forgot there was a microphone."

The crowd laughs.

"As you all know," Sang clears his throat. "One of my babies, Choi Y/N, is going to be performing a solo. She did mention it was a duet, but it all changed. I'm sorry to those we've disappointed; you are free to leave."

Lots of booing came from the crowd as soon as he said the word leave. My heart swelled.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Sang waves a hand towards me, signaling me to come forth. "Welcome, CHOI Y/N!"

I wave as I walk out on the stage, handing Sang my little purse. He hugs me, then walks off the stage. I noticed he had tears in his eyes for some reason.

"Hey, STARS," I grab the microphone from its stand. "I'm sorry for the sudden change, but sometimes things don't work out. Hopefully, you all still love the song."

Music begins to play, and I close my eyes.

"I see the pain in your eyes,

I know all of these hurtful lies.

The thing that counts, is in your heart,

you are never alone.

You are a piece of art,

something so beautiful, something so worthy-"

A deep voice joins in around the point where Jungkook was gonna have to join. I open my eyes, looking at who was singing. Jungkook was walking out on stage, singing his part.

"Don't worry, you're almost at the end of your journey.

We are all different, different in many ways,

we need to stick together to get out of this maze."

When the song finishes, Jungkook walks up to me. He takes both of my hands into his, his eyes looking into mine.

"Y/N," He mumbles. "I was a jerk, and I shouldn't have said some of the things I said. The real reason why I broke up with you... I was scared. I haven't liked or loved anyone the way I have you. You..." His voice breaks, tears filling in his eyes. "You are something so beautiful, something so beautiful. Your soul is pure gold, and I ache to see that part of you."

"Jungkook, you're wasting your breath," Another voice enters the conversation. "She's going to get married to a man who won't hurt her, unlike you."

"Mark?" Jungkook and I both turn our heads.

"That's right," He snaps. "I'm back from tour for tonight, and I did not come here to see this."

Silence.

"Y/N, you are truly something... I knew you were cheating on me with him. I knew it deep in my gut." Mark growls.

"Mark, we were on break," I let Jungkook's hands go, walking over to him. "It's not like-"

"Shut up!" He gets in my face, spittle hitting me.

"Don't talk to her like that," Jungkook gets in between Mark and me, pushing me slightly behind him. "She's done nothing! You, on the other hand, have torn this woman apart. You have ripped her to pieces, and you DON'T care."

"Jungkook..." I mumble.

"Well, what do you want, Y/N?" Mark crosses his arms.

I nudge Jungkook out of the way so I could look Mark straight in the eyes.

"We're done and over with," I say. "I can't take it anymore. I can't take you anymore."

Mark grunts, turning away and walking off the stage. Jungkook turns towards me, rubbing the back of his neck. I grab Jungkook's hands back into mine.

"Jungkook, where are you going with this?" I finally say.

He bends down on one knee, digging in his pocket with one hand while the other holds one of my hands. He looks into my eyes, opening a velvety box. A beautiful diamond ring sits there, sparkling as the stage lights hit it.

"Be mine... forever?" He asks me, eyes twinkling with happiness.
