*** "Ok, Vinnie, what were you so desperate to tell me that I had to come down here in the middle of the night?"
Vinnie took a deep breath and handed Alex a glass of wine. "I'm a vampire."
"Ha! That's rich. Like a hot vampire, or a black cape and castle vampire? Because a girl likes options."
"No really, I'm serious, and it's not like those books. It's actually pretty normal."
"Whatever you say, hon. But seriously, why did you call me over here so urgently?"***
"Alex, I'm being serious." His lips became a flat line as he became annoyed with her.
"How much alcohol have you had tonight, sweetie? Because, yeah, it's obviously too much." She shifted in her seat and shook her head. At least the wine tasted good.
"I'm not drunk." Vinnie crossed his arms and looked at her before uncrossing them and leaning forward. "I've been around for quite some time. The only thing that books and movies really got right about us is the living forever- only a stake in the heart kills us- and the blood thing. We can walk in the sun, though were are more sensitive to it than humans. We can have families, all of those things..." He trailed off as Alex started laughing hysterically. "What's so funny?" His eyebrows furrowed together as he asked her the question.
"Vinnie, I get it. You're pitching your latest book idea to me and I think that's awesome! You don't have to act like the character though..." She playfully nudged his shoulder. "Also, I absolutely adore that you're trying to pretend to be one of my favorite mythical creatures, but that still won't get drunk you a booty call from this girl..." She rubbed her hand down his cheek and put it on his shoulder. "I'm waiting for marriage for one and don't want to mess up our friendship for two."
