*** At first, Jonie wasn't sure if he had heard her. He just stared ahead at the road. Should she repeat herself, or give him a minute? Pretend she hadn't said it and move on? At some point they would leave the car and ***

as of right now, she didn't know what Andrew thought of her admission. She sat for a few minutes, playing with her fingers to try to keep her mind occupied. As he drew closer to her house, she knew she'd have to speak up or she'd go insane trying to figure it all out.

"Andrew, did you hear what I said?" She chanced a glance in his direction. He didn't move or respond, so she sighed.

When he drove past the last road to turn on to go to her house, she whipped her head his direction. Her brows furrowed together in confusion as her mouth opened and closed like a fish while she pointed her finger at the road.

"Pit stop before I drop you off." He reached over and turned the radio up a bit, still focused straight ahead. Jonie shrugged and looked out her window, curious about what exactly he was doing.

He turned onto a long dirt road, one that she assumed was a driveway. The long grass rustled on either side of it in the summer breeze. Andrew put the car in park and killed the headlights. Jonie's mouth dropped open as she looked around. Her house was out far enough for you to be able to see the stars, but there were still a few street lights that messed with the view. Here, though, she was sure that you weren't going to miss a star in the night sky.

"This is my thinking place. My grandparents gave each grandchild a piece of land and this one is mine." He got out and came around the car.
