Caption: I tried to do everything in my power to stay with her but I feel as though I won't be there for much longer. I have to be there, for her.
I always wondered what it would be like if I was in her shoes, in the mind of a human. Does she think I'm still cute despite causing a tremendous amount of trouble once I leave home? Will she ever think differently if I were to chew on those weirdly shaped items she wore on her feet. They smell awful but they do taste oddly delicious.
My Rosy always feed me my favourite food every day and that's normally unusual for someone who hates kibbles but she always buys a big packet of them for me. I love my Rosy, she's my best friend. Did I ever mention that I always wag my tail if she ever pets my head? Because when she touches my fur, her soft delicate hands tell me she loves me and wants me to be with her all the time. I want to be with her all the time too. She's my favourite person in the world and I have to stay with her because she's always alone.
Unfortunately, I had to see this man in a new building. It was scary at first, but he gave me a bone so I could feel a bit at ease. He checked my body and injected something in me, I was confused because I suddenly felt as if the sting became less painful. And oddly enough, my body started to feel weaker. I can't feel my body nor my tongue, I can't wag my tail anymore but I can still feel her hand on my head, slowly caressing my fur. I love you my Rosy, I want to be with you all the time...
Rosy caressed her dog for the last time as the vet put him down. A tear trailed down her cheeks as she remembered her small baby dog had grown old and now it was time for him to go. "Nico... I love you so much, you were my best friend and you were always there for me at home.. I'll miss you", she said as she bent over to kiss Nico's nose one last time, his tail no longer wags when she touched his head.
Nico grew old and he could no longer stay because of organ failure. He would have died eventually but it would have been a slow painful death. Rosy had no other choice but to put him out of his misery earlier. Ever since she adopted him from the pet store, she gave him love and affection that she never received from her parents, as she grew up feeling neglected and forgotten. After seeing a small cute puppy in the shop being neglected, she adopted the puppy and named it Nico. She loved Nico so much that she'd do anything for him and she showered him with everything she had, despite having financial problems. Nico somehow always knew how to make her smile every day and face her everyday problems with a lifted chin and ironclad fists and fight back the bad thoughts. Nico was her best friend after all.
Rosy went back home with a collar in her grasp, holding it ever so tightly and reminiscing the good old days when Nico was still here with her. She walked past the scattered dog toys Nico used to play, dragging her feet along the flooring and sitting down the armchair that was theirs. She leaned her head back and closed her eyes making a single tear dropped down on her cheek. "Nico.."
