Sqaishey's POV
I put on some jeans and a blouse. It is 6:25. 5 minutes to freedom. For a few hours anyway.
I tie up my sneakers and wait patiently at my door. The door is still locked basically 24/7. A few minutes later, I hear the door unlock and see my mother's face.
"Ready?" my mother asks.
I nod and follow her as we sneak downstairs. She unlocks the door and we come outside.
I breathe in the outside air. I haven't had any fresh air for weeks...
My mother tells me to stick close to her as we wander through the busy streets. I look at all the cars rushing past and the lights flashing all around me. It brings back memories of Stampy and I in Los Angeles, walking down the busy streets of Anaheim.
I start to tear up. But I make sure I wipe the tears away before my mother can see.
After 10 long minutes of walking, I see we have reached an ice skating rink. My face lights up and my mother smiles.
I love ice skating! Stampy took me once on my birthday.
I need to stop thinking of Stampy. Otherwise I'm going to tear up more.
We both try on some skates and then we head out onto the ice.
At first I am a little slippery; I haven't skated in a while. But after a few falls, I finally get the hang of it again.
I find my mother, who has also got the hang of things and we dance as the music starts to play.
I find myself smiling for what seems like the first time in months. I skate around with my mother, but soon she gets tired, and says she has to sit down.
I continue to skate; around and around, laughing as my mother smiles.
But soon my mother's look turns to stone. She calls me over to her and tells me that that's enough for tonight.
"What made her change so suddenly?" I think to myself as we walk down the streets again to find something for dinner.
We soon stop at a take out restaurant and order two salads. My mum wants me to eat healthy, but she lets me choose a dessert as well.
While we wait, we watch TV. But what's on the television makes my mouth hang open.
Stampy.
He sits in an interview, on a national news program. He would seem happy to most people, but in his eyes, I can see the sadness. Because he misses me. I can't help but let a few tears stream down my face.
Our name is called and we walk up to the counter. The chef has been watching me, obviously.
"You a fan too? My daughter loves him and some girl called Sqaishey."
My face lights up. "I'm Sqaishey."
The chef smiles. And then I see a girl of about 15 run in the door.
"Dad, I'm back from my shift and I-" the girl starts, but stops when she sees me.
"Sqaishey?" she says in disbelief.
I smile. "Hi." I say, still smiling.
"Oh my gosh, it's actually you! What happened to your videos?" She asks.
"Something happened, it's a bit personal." I say.
"Ok, I understand. But please get back to them soon!" She says. I ask my mum for a pen, and ask her for something to sign. She gives me a shirt and I sign it before saying goodbye and taking our meal out the door.
"You must be popular, Beth." My mother says as I give her back the pen.
We walk around to find somewhere to sit. We walk to a nearby park and sit down a bench near a lake.
But as we eat, I still feel sad about Stampy. And my mother notices.
"Once you're finished that, come with me." She says to me.
I finish my meal and follow my mother to a telephone box.
"I only have enough for a 30 second call, but use it wisely." my mother says.
I stare in shock at her.
I can ring Stampy.
I run into the box and push the coin into the slot. I dial Stampy's number and pick up the phone.
It just seems too easy.
There is a 5 second pause before I hear Stampy's voice.
"Hello."
"Stampy! I only have 20 more seconds!" I say as I hear the automatic voice count my time out.
"Where are you, Sqaishey?!" He almost yells into the phone.
I look to my mother, while the automatic voice counts down.
"I'm still in England, according to my mother." I say.
10, 9...
"I thought your mother was holding you-"
7, 6...
"She is on my side! But Stampy-"
5...
"Yes?"
4...
"I need to say something."
"Anything!" Stampy yells and I sob uncontrollably, almost unable to get the words out.
3, 2, 1...
"I love you."
Stampy's POV
"I love you."
Beep
I lower the phone slowly, placing it down on the bed next to me.
Sqaishey loves me.
I love her.
But we can't be together.
I slam my fists down on the bed in anger. Why did they take her away from me? Why?
My anger disappears, replaced with a bitter-sweet happiness. She loves me. She loves me. I didn't tell her that I love her. Now I'm just sad.
I sigh. I didn't have time to tell her. That phone only had a few seconds left, and I was too shell-shocked to do anything.
She might never know that I love her.
But she will! I will find her! I have to find her.
My thoughts are interrupted by a loud tap on the door. Sighing again, I walk slowly over to it. What do they want?
I open it slowly, glancing through the eye-hole to see who it is first. A young man, probably about the same age as me, stands there. The hallway is too shadowed to see his face.
"Are you Stampylongnose?"
