Angela hadn't gone more than a hundred yards when she heard a cough and sniff.
"Hanzo?"
No response.
"Who's there?" She picked up a stick that was lying by her feet and held it like a sword. Still the forest remained silent.
"Show yourself!"
Off to her right she heard a quiet "Hello?" and slowly made her way towards the sound.
Some fifty feet closer, she called softly again.
"Hanzo?"
"Who's there?" answered a voice that was not Hanzo's.
"Do you have a light?" she asked. "It's dark, and I can't see my way."
"I don't have a light," the voice said, accompanied by rustling leaves and the crunching of footsteps approaching her through the snow. She gripped her stick tighter, ready to whack it in his face should he prove to be a member of Talon.
A dark figure appeared underneath a tree. He seemed familiar. She stared at him for a while, and he didn't move. Then he spoke.
"Angela?"
Her mouth fell open and suddenly she recognized him.
"Gabriel!" She moved toward him but paused, unsure of his intentions. He held his arms out.
"What's the matter?"
"Are you going to take me back to Moira?"
"Who the - no, we're going to get out of here and find out what happened to the rest of the team. Did your shuttle explode too?"
She backed up a step.
"Gabe, when we get breathing room I'll have to catch you up on events. We can do that in Russia. Let's get out of here." She turned and walked away.
"Hey."
She paused.
"What? No hug, no kiss, no 'I'm glad you're okay'? What's the matter, Angel?"
She turned around.
"I'm sorry, Gabe. The last time I saw you, you wanted to kill me. I'm not sure you're not going to try again. But I've still got to get you away from Moira. We've got a long way to go before the sun rises."
"Hang on." He grabbed her arm. "Why did I want to kill you? What happened in the explosion? Why are we running through the forest in the middle of the night? And what's this?!" he said, voice rising in panic as his arm turned to smoke and she pulled her arm out of the cloud.
"You were under orders from Moira to bring me to Talon. You've been killing ex-Overwatch agents. Nearly everyone was killed in the explosion, including you, we thought. I've just escaped from the Talon base and so have you, apparently. You have... abilities... results of experiments Moira conducted on you without your knowledge. You can teleport short distances, you can turn to smoke, and you cough blood occasionally." She took his other hand gently. "We have to go. They'll send Amelie after us. Or Moira herself will come. Come on." She pulled him after her, looking back to make sure he wasn't vanishing.

6:30 A.M.
"Lights."
"A town. Maybe there'll be a shuttle. Put your hood up, Gabriel. You look half-dead and it'll frighten people."
He did as he was told. Angela handed him a pair of sunglasses.
"Take my hand. If anyone asks, you're blind, and only speak Spanish. I'll be your caretaker, and we're fleeing the wars in Spain. You were blinded by omnics,so maybe act a little intimidated by mechanical sounds. Try not to talk if you can help it."
"What if there's danger and I can see it but you can't?"
"Then calmly warn me in Spanish. I understand it, you know."
"Angela, it's been years since I spoke anything but Standard and I'm rusty."
"You'll be fine." She adjusted his hood and led him toward the road leading into the small settlement.
"Gabe, be more hesitant. You're acting like you can see. I should have to pull you a little bit, and you should feel with your feet for rocks and tripping hazards. That's better," she said a few yards later.

The town was smaller than they'd thought. Hanzo had made his way there too, apparently, but he scurried away as soon as he saw Angela.
There was no shuttle. They would have to wait until someone drove through town on their way to the next town some twenty miles up the road. There was one car in the entire town, and the owner was not interested in selling it. Angela shrugged when she heard the refusal and went looking for food and water. She hadn't eaten or drank in nearly twelve hours. Neither had Gabe, although he did have a slight advantage.
It was hard work to convince any of the scared people to part with a crumb of their precious food, let alone a water container, but Angela managed to secure enough food for a day. As they left down the road, heading toward the next town, she looked over what they'd gotten.
"Talon and the omnics terrorising these innocent people," she said, shaking her head. "When we've got everything sorted out, I'm coming back and I'm putting a stop to Moira once and for all." She made a fist and aimed an imaginary blaster. "If only I had a gun. I'd do it now."
"What happened to the Cadeuceus blaster?"
"You left it on a rooftop in New Sacramento when you captured me." She paused, remembering something. "Sam." She hurried forward, rambling worriedly in German.
"What? Angela!" Gabe took her hand and tried to slow her down, but she pushed him away.
"Six year old boy, all alone in my house, with a dead body, and no parents, relations, nothing." She dashed tears from her eyes. "You killed Jesse, so now the poor thing's all alone!"
It was Gabe's turn to freeze.
"I what?"
"You blew him wide open." She choked back a sob. "Took off the mask, caught him off guard, shot him with your cursed shotgun and left with me, leaving Sam all alone."
Gabriel looked down at his hands. He collapsed to his knees.
"I... I'm sorry..." He knew the words meant nothing, that apologies were useless, but he had to say something. Angela pulled him to his feet.
"Well if you hurry up we can save Sam from death by hypodermic needle. If he's not died of thirst already." She took his hand again and led him down the road.

Moira slammed a fist on the table.
"What do you mean they're gone?"
Widowmaker didn't flinch.
"Sombra hacked my visor and stunned me. When I came to, there was no sign of her or Reaper. I have searched within a one-mile perimeter and found nothing."
Moira stalked around the room, her face twisted into a scowl. Akande opened the door.
"Moira-" he was cut off by a bottle to the eye.
"Akande, now is not  the time. Get. Out." Moira was shaking with rage. Amelie closed the door on him, staying near it.
"Moira, if you'd like, I will search for tracks, and follow any I find. They can't have gotten too far. He has, after all, completely lost all memory of his abilities."
"I'm coming with you." Moira dumped liquids from bottles into a bowl and furiously stirred them until the mixture turned a deep purple. She poured the concoction into the tanks on her suit.
"When I find them, they're going to regret that they were ever born." Her eyes glinted with bloodlust and she suited up.
"Amelie, be a dear and tell Akande I'm leaving, won't you?" She was dangerously calm.
"Oui," Amelie closed the door behind her.

Akande was right outside the door. Amelie bowed slightly.
"Moira and I are leaving to look for Sombra and Reaper. We will be back when we find them. You are not welcome to come."
"I assumed as much," he said, nursing his eye where Moira had hit him. "Tell her Talon will be withdrawing all funding until she can give us a stable agent." Amelie nodded once.
"She is in no mood to hear that. I will tell her later."
"See to it that you do," he said, walking away.
No sooner had he disappeared around the corner than Moira appeared out of her lab.
"Are we ready, Amelie?" Widow nodded. Moira smiled.
"Good."

(Daaaaang, you guys. This chapter took waaaay too long to think up. And I'm late to being late for getting it out. My apologies.
Anyway, I've got lots of ideas for the chapter coming out Friday so I will try and make that one longer.
I hope this chapter was a little less confusing as far as perspective jumps go. I read back over the last one and I could tell where it's confusing. I'll try not to do that again, or label the jumps if I do.
Thank you guys so much for reading! I hope you liked the story so far and I hope you'll like the rest of it!)
