The journey, though long, was uneventful. Angela tried to help Gabriel understand his abilities whenever they stayed in a hotel or a dark alley. Genji sat to the side keeping watch and sharpening shurikens.
They caught a few shuttles illegally, Reyes shadowstepping Angela inside and then joining Genji on top. She avoided the security as much as she could, knowing she'd be recognised. And possibly thrown off. People in this part of the world were especially hostile towards ex-Overwatch agents. She had a few close calls with children who had seen her picture on the torn and damaged Overwatch flyers still up around their cities.
"Hi," said a little girl, bashfully clinging to the arm of the seat.
"Hello," Angela replied, "what's your name?"
"Jan." Then, a moment later, "Are you the angel that destroyed our town?"
"What?"
"On the pictures, of the people Mama says destroyed our town. Are you the angel?"
"I don't know what you're- are you talking about the Overwatch pictures?"
"Yeah, are you the angel?"
"I'm no angel, Jan. I haven't destroyed anything on purpose, only tried to help people. Where's your mother?" she added, looking around.
"Mama's in the other car," Jan explained. "She's sleeping."
"Well, why don't you go and stay with her. She will be worried if you aren't there when she wakes up."
Jan didn't move.
"You are the angel! You have the same face!"
"Jan, for the last time, no. I'm not an angel. Whoever destroyed your town, that wasn't me. You should go back to your mother."
Jan danced away, singing, "Angel, angel, angel, she's the angel." The other passengers were starting to look closer at Angela.
She locked herself in the restroom and knocked on the ceiling a few times. Gabe appeared in a few seconds.
"They're getting suspicious. A little girl recognised me. We need to go."
Gabe disappeared for a second, and wrapped his arms around her when he reappeared. The train vanished from around them and they landed in a snowdrift. Genji sat nearby.
"This is too risky, Angela. You can't ride on top and you can't ride in the cabins. We're going to have to put you in a suitcase if we want to travel unnoticed. You too," he added, pointing at Gabriel. Angela shook her head.
"No. We'll just have to disguise ourselves." And they did. Genji donned Gabriel's jacket and found a nice sturdy stick to walk with, Angela wore some sunglasses she found on the next train, and Reyes closed his eyes and clung to Angela's arm.
"Remember, if we're stopped for questioning, neither of you speaks Standard. Genji, you have a back injury that prevents you from standing straight, and Gabe, you're blind."
They nodded.
"Good."
The disguises and stories worked surprisingly well and they were in Russia just a couple of days later.

"Europe, huh?"
Jesse McCree looked at the maps spread across his desk.
"Well, then, I'm going after her."
Mike looked shocked.
"Why? She ain't on your turf anymore. What's she to you?"
Jesse shook his head.
"I'm coming back, Mike. She ain't that much to me. But she left her important gear when that thing took her, and shot me. I gotta get that back to her. She's gonna need it. Might be a month or more before I get back, though. You'll keep an eye on the kid for me?" He looked at Sam, who was preoccupied with some cookies and a glass of milk. Sam looked up at Jesse and smiled through a mouthful. Mike nodded. "Sure. What's he like to eat?"
"Well, he likes cookies, he ate eggs, but I didn't make 'em. I don't know if he'll like your eggs or not, Mike, as spicy as you make them. He probably likes steak or ribs or barbecue or something. Worse comes to worse you can hand him off to an orphanage till I get back." Sam looked up again, but this time his eyebrows were furrowed in concern.
"Jesse, where're you going?"
"I'm gonna give the angel back her stuff."
"I wanna come."
"Sam, it's too dangerous. I could be shot on sight. They'd think I was taking you hostage."
"I'm not your hostage though."
"Well they don't know that. It's too dangerous for a little kid like you to go gallivantin' all across the world."
Sam's lip started quivering and tears welled up in his eyes.
"I wanna go with you, Jesse. What if you get shot again and nobody can use the thing on you and you die?" He started crying. Jesse sat down next to him.
"Sam, stop crying. I ain't gonna die. I lived for forty years and I ain't died yet. And I ain't gonna."
Sam wrapped his arms around Jesse.
"I wanna go with you."
Jesse looked at Mike. He shrugged.
"Kid's got a point, boss." Jesse glared at him.
"You just don't wanna have to figure out what he'll eat."
Mike shrugged again.
"Kid's pretty attached to you."
Jesse punched the table.
"Oh, for crying out loud. Fine. Sam, you can come. But if I get into any kinda trouble, you run, far away, as fast as you can."
