Sadly, I'm sober once more. I really don't like it, either, because now I don't have much of a choice. From what the gang told me, I evidently tried to kill myself in four different ways on the way home. Did I believe it? No, of course not! Because everyone, well, minus Zaela, over-exaggerates.

"So, when am I supposed to go meet up with Amora, again?" I asked.

"For the Delaeos-knows-how-many-eth time, we were told to have you go once the side affects wore off." Arch sighed.

"Okay, fine. I'll head over now." I promised, getting my jacket and heading out the door.

As I went across the street, I saw a lot more shady furries than normal. I acted like it didn't bother me, but it did. What was making me a little anxious was how they all had a symbol on them that I once had. A wolf-paw turning into a head, with a blood-red moon and star next to it. I knew it by one thing only, and that was the Mark of the Lycans. I started to speed up, but was cut off by three or more wolves, I can't remember, all I know was that I was scared.

Lycans are the equivalent of Blood, Crip, GDK, MS-13, Yakuza, and a little bit of Russian Mafia. In other words, I was screwed like I said. They are violent, kill anyone they are paid to, or just wanted to, and rob every place in the books. They are low-profile, and they blend with the crowd. The ultimate assassins and pillagers. How do I know this? I used to be one. Used to. That was until my best friend, Nico saved me, but got busted himself.

Nico's father was originally the leader of the United States Lycans. When Nico was born, he was already signed up to join. That was because anyone who's related to a Lycan was to join. When we were coming back from school one day, He was attacked by the initiator, then was raped. Since I was there to see it, I was too. From then on, I've been a Lycan, but left them. Nico is still my friend today, but we don't talk much. I could only pray that I wasn't going to be attacked. Just when I thought that, one of the Lycans lept at me.

"Stop right there!" I heard a low voice growl.

All of the other wolves had backed up when they heard the voice. There were other species, too. Foxes, dragons, and even some hybrids. All of them could go kill themselves, though. Not that I'm trying to be rude about it, but they tried killing me for having to abandoning them. Of course, some learned the hard way not to screw with me.

"Why the fuck are all of you trying to kill one of your own?" The voice snarled.

I looked in awe as one of my only true friend Nico came from a shadow. His fur remained as yellow as ever, and his secondary blue colors just as bold. He now had LYCAN in grey letters tattooed on his neck. His birth mark, spelling out his name, was still very clear. The two menacing, orange and blue eyes looked into mine. Then I realized, we both changed a lot.

"What are you doing here, Aris?" Nico asked, honestly confused. "I thought you told me that you were done with the Lycan-life."

"I didn't mean to come in your guys' turf. I only left to go to someone's place. As far as Lycan-life. You're right. I am done with it."

"Why don't you come back? There's new rules, a different leader." Nico asked.

Nico got me trapped there. It wasn't like I was going to be jumped, more like he was scared to lose me forever. We both were. And that's why I gave him the look I did. It was of confusion at first, then understanding. He wasn't doing this the make the Lycan gang better, it was because he needed someone by his side. I still had one question in my mind, though.

     "Who is the new leader?"

"Me. I beat my father in a fight about a month ago. This makes me the youngest Lycan leader in twenty years. Please, Aris. Even if you don't choose to come back, then remember this, I'm always here for you." Nico answered.

"Okay, I'll keep that in mind." I said. "Can I go now?"

"Yeah. Let him through boys." Nico replied with a flick of his tail. "Everyone, head back to base. Until I'm back, Aquarius, you keep order."

"Wait, why aren't you going?" I asked, mildly curious.

"Because I won't leave my blood-brother behind." Nico said shortly. "Not again."

I felt like a weight for some reason was lifted off of me. I gave Nico a smile and started my way to Amora's office again. With Nico next to me, I had him hide the Mark of the Lycans. (It was a weird skill we got. Any Lycan could do it, and we can make it reappear.) He did so modestly, and bought us a little food on the way there. That was the great thing about Nico. If he knew you well enough and were his friend, then he would also have your back through thick and thin. As far as his enemies, let's just say that some blood was always shed, and it was less of his.

"So, how is it, being leader?" I asked.

"Not too hard. Stop jabbering, I want to know all of the problems your ass has." Nico replied with a light punch to my arm and a laugh.

Sometimes I wondered about Nico. His brain was all over the place sometimes, others, he seemed like he could be the next super-genius to exist. Well, that's the downfall of having your best friend/blood-brother being both a gangster and a wolf. You never know about them at any given time.
