Darrel POV

"Lucas had to have said something to her." I whispered to my mom.

"She didn't sleep at all last night." my mother whispered back. Riley was sitting at the counter right now; bags under her red eyes from crying all night. And she was eating pie for breakfast along with a cup of coffee. She never ate sweet things for breakfast.

"Will you two stop watching me like I'm some type of endangered species." it was a statement even though it should have been a question. Her voice was low and her hair was tangled and wild.

"Riley honey, it's 7:00 in the morning. And you don't have school today." said my mother.

"I'm aware." she replied curtly.

"Did Lucas say anything about homecoming?" she cringed at the mention of his name.

"He said he'll go with me."

"Well thats wonderful! Don't you want to look for a dress?"

"Not really. Cant I just borrow one of your dresses?"

"No. You should have your own dress." Riley let out a sigh and sprayed whipped cream straight into her mouth.

"Riley that's not healthy!" my mother took the can from her along with the empty plate. Riley groaned. Her doctor mode was kicking in.

"I have to go in to work but we will go shopping when I get back home." she caressed Riley's cheek and then went to get ready.

"Go to school, Darrel."

"Huh?"

"I know you have classes today. Just go, I'll be fine." I hesitated.

"If you need anything, text me or call me and I'll come straight home."

"I'm fine. Just go." she answered. I got ready and walked Lucario before I left.

"Damn that Lucas! They were fine when i went to bed last night. What did he do to her?" I gripped the steering wheel and then stopped myself from abusing my car any further.

Lucas POV

"Well this is a problem." I muttered to myself. I had gotten myself ready for the day and went to my calendar to mark the day of Riley's homecoming dance. But that day had already been marked. It was something I couldn't afford to miss but had forgotten so easily because I had been spending time with Riley.

Our manor was to hold the party this year for the Royals. It started before homecoming did but went on even longer. I had to find a way out of it. Maybe I should talk to Audrey; the creator of our family's section of the clan. This meant that she was one of the oldest vampires; created by the first ever vampire.

Her last name was Dion, making her the first one to find her mate and form the Dion family. Though I had a feeling that this was something I wasn't gonna be able to get out of.

"Uncle LuLu?" came Kit's little voice.

"Yes?"

"When can we see Auntie Ley?" asked Kat. He thought the nickname they came up with for Riley was adorable.

"I'm not sure. She's probably mad at me right now." I put my head in my arms.

"Why?"

"Because I couldn't stay with her."

"I don't get it."

"You will when you get older."

"I think you're the one who doesn't get it." I glanced to the doorway.
