Lucas's POV

My father has been in full revenge mode since Christmas passed. He has plans to attack the vampire hunter hq, and his mind is stuck on it.

"That's a suicide mission!" argued my brother. I nodded in agreement.

"You doubt the strength of your family?" asked my father.

"No! Im just trying to say-"

"You dare to go against me, son?" now he was exuding his dominance.

"No father."

"That's what I thought. I might be your father but I am also the current leader of this clans household." he explained. I stood quiet.

"The mission is going down a week from now. Take fare of any business before then."

"Yes father."

"How are you feeling? Your birthday is only one day away!" exclaimed Harper.

"Have you told Lucas?" Zoe asked.

"Ive been dropping hints. He said we're going somewhere." I said as I brushed through the tangles in my hair. But I was really struggling.

"Ugh!" I clenched the brush in my hands. Zoe unwrapped my fingers from the brush and took it in her hand.

"Chill girl. You need another pill?" Harper said. They were the only two who can stand me when I'm on my period. Even Lucario steered clear of me. They're immune to my mood swings.

"There." Zoe had gotten the tangles out and tied up my hair at the back of my neck in a low ponytail.

"Thanks. You guys should head home. Have my brother take you." I instructed.

"It ain't even late yet." Harper said. I turned around in my swivel chair and pushed my self to the door. I swung it open as I stopped myself.

"Out." I said, feeling my cramps intensify slightly.

"Correction, you need a pill and some sleep."

"Out!" I slapped my hand on the door for emphasis.

"Damn! Okay!" Harper said dramatically; getting up and walking out the door.

"Get some rest." Zoe kissed my forehead and then left. With a long sigh, I pushed myself over to my bed and timed my jump into the familiar softness. Faced with the plushness of a pillow pet and the warmth of my quilt, I quickly fell asleep.

When I woke up, it was to heavy footsteps on the stairs. Someone was wearing boots in the house; probably Darrel to tell me that he took my friends home. I wonder how long I had been asleep.

"Riley?" that did not sound like Darrel. I glanced over my shoulder to see Lucas standing at the door.

"Come on let's go."

"Go where? What time is it?"

"I told you I as taking you out for your birthday. And it's 8:00."

"My birthday is tomorrow. I'm not going anywhere, even if it's with you." I turned back over. Okay, so I hadn't meant it to sound as harsh as it did. But he knew of my mood swings and I was pretty sure he could smell that I was on my period from downstairs.

"Baby come on. It'll be fun." he said.

"Then go ahead by yourself. Tell me how it was tomorrow. I'm in no mood to go anywhere because my stomach hurts, I'm tired and it's cold outside."

"Just get up. Use the bathroom and get dressed." he told me. I might as well freshen up while I was awake. Or at least half awake.

Lucas waited for me and raised an eyebrow at me when I came back out.
