Y/n POV

It is Friday. The day of tryouts for cheerleading. It was after school so I had time to prepare myself.

I told LaLisa about my interest in joining cheer and she told me to tryout today. She seemed really excited for me to join.

I am nervous.

I asked LaLisa if I can always wear my hat and mask. She looked unsure and said, "During practice I'm sure you can but during games, I don't know. You're going to have to ask coach or Jennie."

I watched other people trying out for cheer before it was my turn.

After the girl was done, I heard Jennie call out, "Next please!"

When I walked out she looked surprised, "Did you fill out your paperwork?"

I nodded my head.

"Alright. Can you do a simple split?" She questioned.

I just did the splitz.

"Okay. I'm going to show you a routine of ours and I want you to try to copy what I do when I finish, sound good?" Jennie stood up, turning on some music.

I nodded my head, a bit nervous.

Jennie started off doing some easy moves until it got more intricate, she was even cheering as she did it.

Once she finished she looked over at me, "Okay. Now it's your turn."

I gulped before I copied every single move she did. Everyone at the table (five people) looked at me in surprise.

I perfectedly mimicked Jennie's routine. LaLisa who was also at the table beamed and me and gave me two thumbs up.

"Your routine is perfect but you didn't do the cheer," Jennie started.

As I heard that I looked down.

"How about if Lisa and I stay here and you three take a break," Jennie ended.

The other three cheerleaders looked a bit shocked before Jennie stared at them, making them hurry away.

Now it was just Jennie and LaLisa who was watching me.

"Please do the routine again and this time with the cheer," Jennie stated.

I felt more confident because I was doing it in front the two of them only.

I redid the routine with the cheer this time. My mask didn't really contain my voice so I didn't have to worry about fully yelling.

Once I finished I looked over at the two of them.

They were both smiling at me.

"I am pleasantly surprised. Welcome to the squad," Jennie said.

LaLisa let out a squeal of joy and ran over to me, hugging me, "I knew you were going to get in!"

I hugged her back and let out a carefree laugh.

She pulled away in surprise and looked at me.

I just realized this is the first time she heard me laugh out loud, I shyly looked at her.

"You have a beautiful laugh," she softly said, "I would love to hear it more often."

I blushed a dark shade of red before I said, "Thank you. My laugh will never compare to yours though."

It was her turn to blush.

"I hate to interrupt your little moment but we need to keep judging the other people trying out," Jennie lightly told us.
