The EDG stands for the Elite Defense Group and was formed to defend and protect the people. When it was first founded, it recruited strong, skilled, individuals that were eligible to be an agent. Eventually, the EDG gets bought out by someone, now known as the director, from the government and then it became a private agency. Now it is private, the new leaders could look more into recruiting people with special abilities, strengths, and powers. They also learn to develop extremely advanced technology and with this technology, the EDG learns to do experiments to give humans superpowers.

The EDG consists of a 10 level ranking structure that makes up each position everyone in the EDG has. The levels indicated the level of information the agent was allowed to have access to, and just the basic rank within the EDG with 1 as the lowest and 10 as total clearance which only the director has.

For years the identity of the director was unknown and her personal life. The directors' orders were always commanded through the Chief Executive of the agency and they are today. It wasn't until an attack on the EDG Headquarters that the director revealed her identity. Her name is Katherine Arctic now that her identity is disclosed, and was known by all EDG agents, every government, allies, and certain criminals. Still to this day the Chief Executive commands the EDG even though the identity of the director was revealed.

In the time that Katherine was incognito, she married a man who is unknown and together they raised a family giving birth to two children, Matt and Liv Arctic. Due to the agency's growth, it would have brought the children to be targets of many enemies of the EDG, so their true identities were also kept a secret. Both of the children were given the last name, Evans to hide the fact that they were really Arctic's. Because of other unknown reasons, the father went missing with no trace. By the time the identity of the director was revealed, the father was already missing making it hard to find anything about him. With the director refusing to set forth any information about her husband, Matt and Liv must grow up in the dark and with no details on their father and nothing to go on.

Or so they thought...
