⭒ Nightmares

a/n: super sorry for the late update! It's been a really rough last three weeks. but things are starting to look up, plus, it's my birthday tomorrow!

when I was younger I had really bad night terrors. :( so I wanted to have one scenario centered around that. Also, Orochimaru's kind of makes me sad but this is really just how I perceive him as a father in this situation... and. In general

Pain

Pain worked long into the night, between missions, recruiting, and hunting down the tailed beasts. To say he was tired would be an understatement. He was frankly exhausted but working endless nights were not foreign to him, nor something he couldn't handle. Through his years, he's found many ways to work through exhaustion. He walked slowly through the base, a slip of paper in his hands with a new mission to give to Hidan and Kakuzu.

He was just turning the corner when something bumped into him. Without thinking, he prepared to use an almighty push, frustrated by those roaming the hall and getting in his way. With being tired, and the amount of days with no sleep growing, he had very little temper. However, before he could make his command, a loud but squeaky, "Daddy!" was shouted from below, snapping him out of his frustrated daze to see he had actually bumped into you.

"Y/n?" his brows stitched together as he felt a light anger bubble in his chest. "Disobedient child, what have I told you about being out past bed."

His expression softened when he watched you step away from him. There was already apparent terror on your face, but his booming voice shouting at you didn't help. Scaring you was the last thing he wanted to do, so he reached a hand out to rest on the top of your head, stopping you from going any farther back, and pulling you back towards him. "My apologies, sweet child. Why are you awake?" he tries again.

"I had a bad dream," you sniffle. Pain has had many nightmares in his time, not in this body, of course. He closes his eyes, remembering every pitiful and horrible dream he's endured and how they'd impacted him. He understood, no matter how small or large the nightmare may be, how terrifying they can truly be. He takes a hold of your hand and walks you back to your room, slowly to give you some more time to calm down.

He lifts you up in his arms then lays you down on your bed. Pain carefully pulls up the sheets to your chins, tucking you in. Sitting down on the edge of your bed, Pain gently combs his fingers through your hair. "Go to sleep, child," he mutters quietly. His soothing touch and gentle caressing through your hair lulls you back to sleep. And in doing so, he too falls asleep resting against the wall with your head in his lap.

Konan

Konan hums softly as she rocks you back and forth, holding you close to your chest as you sob into her. Konan was just on her way to sleep when she heard the tossing and turning from inside your room. Opening the door, it tore her heart apart to see you looking so distraught and terrified in your sleep. When she awoke you, you jumped to her, clutching for dear life and crying out your nightmare to her.

"No demons will ever hurt you, y/n. I promise, angel, I wouldn't let any," she whispers softly, pressing a tender kiss into your hair. Konan gives you the choice of coming to bed with her. She takes your little hand in hers and guides you back to her room. She watches over for awhile as you fall asleep with your head in her lap, her fingers gently combing through your hair. She wants to protect you from all nightmares, though she knows it's not inherently possible. That never stops her trying though.

Tobi

Tobi did NOT whatsoever help your nightmare, at all. He had come into your room late in the night with the full intentions of scaring you, in fact. It was all harmless fun to him as he swooped around the room, scratching at the floors, tossing your hair and making eerie noises with his mouth. He chuckled to himself as he watched you toss and turn in his sleep.
