I hope you like this book, just remember that I have never written like this before and don't get all wound up on the numerous mistakes I will make. To the side is how I picture Evelyne, just make her eyes bluer. Enjoy!

Uncertainty is killing me
And I'm certainly not asleep
Maybe I've gone far too deep
Maybe I'm just far too weak
And that's the last place
I want to be the last place
-The Fray
She gripped the note tightly between her slim fingers, turning her knuckles white. She glanced down briefly again, making sure she had the address correct.
20 West 53rd Street New York, NY, 10019
She looked up, and blinked against the bright glare that shone off the glass that made up the wall before her. Blinking hastily, she quickly surveyed the mansion in front of her before finding the number above the dark wood door, 20. She took a deep breath and stepped up to the door. She knocked loudly once, twice, three times, before shifting back towards the sidewalk. She waited without a sound, counting the seconds wordlessly as they skittered into the past, "Seventeen, eighteen, nineteen... Sixty-one, sixty-two, sixty-three... Eighty-eight, Eighty-nine, Ninety!" Because the average moment takes ninety seconds, she supposed that it should take nintey seconds at most to open a door. She frowned, the ugly gesture twisting her beautiful face. She stepped up to the window framing the ebony colored door and peered inside. It looked... Empty. She frowned again. Backing up to the beginning of the sidewalk, she appraised her situation. After thinking for several seconds, she glanced around her, then backed up even further, and took a running start. When she had reached the top of the stairs, she leaped up and grabbed the seam between the large panes of glass. Scaling the wall using her arms and legs in the seams, she soon made it to an open window that led into a bedroom. Sneaking slyly inside onto the massive bed, she cast a quick gaze around the room. It was huge with tall white stone walls, dark wood furniture excepting the bed, which was pure white, and white stone flooring. The bed had been used recently, as it was not yet cold and the sheets were wrinkled. Sliding onto the floor, she called out softly,
"Anden?"
She cocked her head to the side and listened intently for a moment. Nothing. She frowned once more, then walked silently to the door, and then on to the hallway.
"Anden?"
She called out again, louder this time. She stood still, waiting for an answer. None came. She turned back towards the bedroom ruefully, and then stopped. She leaned her head to the side as she heard a shuffling sound, almost like that of footsteps. She was just realizing how close it seemed, when she felt a sharp pain in her head and everything went black...
The man standing above the woman smiled coldly as he set down the metal baseball bat he was carrying. Without looking, he slid a cell phone out of his pocket and raised it to his lips. "It's done."
