Hear not the callings of the bird
Who sings for all to see
But eye the bobcat watching close
Silent in the tree

Notice not the rays of light
That, gifted by the sun,
Conceal the danger lurking here
Which silent whispers "run"

Notice not the softest wool
That sits upon the sheep
But closer look and you will see
The wolf that hides beneath

Beware of most, the candied words
Of those who lust for things
For lies are what they've surely said
And hurts, in time, will sing
