'El.. please... please El.' Mike wasn't trying to hold back tears anymore. He didn't care, his dignity and image wasn't important. He couldn't lose her.. not now, not again, not ever. 'El come on. Please just.. open your eyes. Give me a sign or something.. please... just let me know.. that... you're okay' Mike held El's body in his arms, shaking her and trying his best to wake her up. His eyes became waterfalls, leaving dark patches on El's shirt as he hugged her tightly. 'Please... be okay' He whispered. "Mike? What happened?" Nancy said, walking towards him. 'She.. she won't wake up. She's not moving.. her breathing is shallow.. she's not responding or even reacting at all to anything' He said, struggling for breath. "Mike, she's just exhausted from using her powers. This has happened before, remember? She'll be up in a minute and she'll be fine." Lucas reassured him. 'No, Lucas, this time it's different. It feels different. Something feels off' "off?" 'Yeah. She's.. cold. Like... there's no life. I know I sound crazy but I really mean it. You know, normally people have this warmth to them, and you feel their presence. I know the mind flayer likes it cold or whatever, but when Will was.. yknow... you could still see Will there, you could feel he was still there. Even with Billy, you can tell he's still in there. But with...' He looked down at the floor and shut his eyes tight, tears dripping onto the ground. Mike paused for a moment, to recollect himself, and then continued 'With El, I felt different just then. The way she looked at me... at us. As if she had some sort of... vendetta... against us. She looked at me with.. disgust. But, at the same time, her stares were so hollow, her expressions were blank. I felt Eleven... not El. I couldn't see the girl I love. And that... that broke me. That hurt Lucas.'
"Mike... she's gonna be ok. Trust me. We helped Will, we can help her." He kneeled down beside Mike. 'When will this all stop? Last year, when El closed the gate, I thought we were done with this mess. Sometimes I feel like it'll never end.. like we're all stuck in this loop now.. and everyone who gets involved is stuck too... I just want this all to be over, so we can put it all behind us and maybe even live normal lives.' Will walked over to them "Hey. You ok?" 'Yeah... I guess' "we're gonna get through this... together. As a party." Static sounds started to crackle out of Robin's walkie "Scoops troop? Do you copy?" Dustin's voice came from the walkie "Scoops troop, do you copy? What's going on over there?" Robin picked it up 'Yeah, I copy. We're still at the mall, Billy won't let us leave. And... we have a situation.' "What happened? Should we come to you?" 'I think it would be best if you stayed where you are' Robin looked around at the others, who nodded in approval. Mike wiped the tears from his eyes and cheeks 'So what are we go-'. Bang. A loud gunshot echoed through the mall.
