Adelaides pov

"Hello?" she answered. Thank god. I thought to myself when grace finally answered the phone.

"Can you pick me up? I'm in the middle of number road and I don't know my way back." I replied sighing as a said to my best friend.

"Of course! see you in five!" she said before cutting the line and for once, I was glad that my best friend moved here with me because, without her, I couldn't survive my new life in Dallas. I met Grace when I was about eight or nine years old, three years after we m, moved to Canada, and I didn't have many friends but one day at recess, these boys who called themselves the 'Greasers from the south' started bothering me because of the color of my eyes. That was when I first met grace. she had always been extremely bold and protective of those she cares about but ever since that day, I cant tell you how many times I've asked myself why she helped me that day.

As I turned the corner, I saw a face that I wasn't ready to see yet.

"Addie..." He said. he had dark bags under his eyes and it seemed like he hasn't shaved in a while. His eyes were dark and gloomy, there was no hope in them.

"Don't call me that anymore!" I replied sternly. Why did today have to be so eventful I wondered turn away from him.

"Adelaide, wait," he said grabbing onto my wrist. I knew he wanted to talk but I couldn't forgive him.

"Let me go, Frances," I said to him. he looked at me as though I slapped him across the face.

"cant we figure this out? Be friends again?" he replied quietly thinking that I couldn't hear those nasty words fall out of his mouth.

"Friends?" I scoffed "Friends don't go around bullying each other!" Now I was pissed and that was when I heard a car door slam.

"Adelaide in the car now," she said with a voice that could send shivers down your spine. As I walked past Grace, she whispered "You alright?" her eyes searching mine.

"I'll be fine, don't give him too much of lecture. I could use a tub of ice cream right now," I replied laughing softly before getting into Graces' convertible.

I can't stand it here.
