"I know, baby, but I'll be back before you know it," you said, trying to be positive and reassure Tae, but under the surface you were struggling too, trying not to cry because you knew if one of you broke, you'd both be a hot mess.
"You're gonna be gone for over a month. That's a long time. I don't think I can do this."
"We've gotten through longer than a month before."
"Yeah, but it's different now," Tae continued to whine as he laid his head on your shoulder.
He was right, though. It was different now. Things had changed drastically over the past week and a half. You were not just best friends anymore, and you had gotten closer than you'd ever been, even closer than you were in Bali. You could feel the tears constantly welling up as you tried to fight them back.
You were just arriving at the airport, and although, it would have been much easier for both of you if you and Tae had said your goodbyes at the hotel instead of him coming to the airport; he insisted on coming with you anyway.
Tae's driver Cedric got out to gather your bags which gave the two of you some privacy. Tae sat up, cupping your face with his hands as you looked into each other's misty eyes.
"I want to give you something before you leave," Tae said kissing you before removing a blue Tiffany and Co. box and a red Cartier box from his bag, giving them to you.
"What's this?"
"Just open them."
You opened the blue box first. Inside were two 'Tiffany T' bracelets. Tae knew how much you loved these after you ranted about how beautiful they were and even jokingly mentioned that the "T' stood for Tae when the two of you were at Tiffany & Co. a few days ago.
"Aww... Tae! You saw how much I loved these the other day, so you bought them for me? You're so sweet. Thank you, babe," you said placing one of your hands on his check, kissing him softly.
"Open the other one," Tae said impatiently.
"Okay, okay!"
You giggled as you opened the little red box to find two Cartier 'Love' bracelets.
"Oh my god... Tae! They're so beautiful! Why did you buy me all of these?"
"Well, the 'T' bracelets... I got them for you simply because you loved them and I love you. But... the 'Love' bracelets I had already planned to give to you as a symbol of my love for you and our relationship.
I was told that these were created over 40 years ago as a sign of fidelity and commitment. The only way to remove them is to unlock them with a special 'key'. I also bought one for myself so you can lock mine on too before you leave. I had them all engraved with our names and the date of our commitment to one another," Tae explained with his adorable square smile, beaming with pride.
You were speechless, and all of the tears you were working so hard to hold back were flowing freely now as Tae placed all four bracelets on your wrist, locking the Cartier bracelets with the little tool that accompanied them in the box. Then you placed his bracelet on his wrist and did the same before sealing the perfect moment with a kiss.
