7 | ARE YOU NEW HERE?

Oh! I'm late for class

.I walked faster to meet up with my next class, my mind was all over the places so I wasn't catching up with what was going on around me. By mistake, I walked into someone that ended up falling to the ground, all the books the person was holding sprawled on the floor. I looked down at the person and I realised that it was a girl. I knelt down in assisting her in picking her books as I kept on apologising. I was aware of the fact that I was almost late for my class but I needed to help her up on her feet.

"I'm really sorry" I apologised again.

"It's fine, you should leave before you get late to your class," she said.

"Thank you," I said as I ran off without getting to know her name. When I got into my next class, I try as much as possible not to attract attention to me. I was immediately noticed by my teacher.

"Why are you late for my class" he demanded.

"I just lost track of my time, I'm really sorry sir" I apologised.

"Have your sit?" he said while he continued teaching.

Mr Travis is known as one of the hottest teachers in a school and most of the female students swoon around him.

At the end of the class, we were paired up by Mr Travis for a group assignment and I was paired up with Dhruv, who is the hottest nerd in my class. Some people call him Dwarf just to get under his skin even though he was tall. He is also called a nerd because he loves reading a lot and he is one of the best in my school. I mostly go to him when I have difficulties in math. The assignment is to do with a poem titled "Life after death".

Manik's presence was made known in the classroom when he complained about his partner. He sees himself as a god since most students worship him and 99.9% of them are girls. He was paired with Alya and is one of those girls that could worship the ground Manik walks on. I see that has the stupidity of the highest order, like who does that? Definitely not me. That reminds me of Maddy. He wasn't in class. Manik face looks bruised and I wondered what he has gotten himself into

" See you later Dhruv," I said as he left after the bell rang. I decided to meet Manik just to be sure he was okay and for the first time in My life, I had to question myself of why I was worried about him. Maybe it was because he rescued me from those horrible guys that almost ripped my soul away from my body. Omg! Did they get into a fight after I left? It couldn't because he left with me. As I was about to walk up to him I walked into the girl I met earlier. My eyes lit up immediately. I noticed it was her again. Both of us started laughing all of a sudden.

"Sorry for walking into you again, by the way, I'm Nandini," I said.

"It's fine at least I got to know your name. I'm sarah" she said.

"Are you new here?" I asked.

"No, actually I'm not. I've been here since the beginning of my high school year" she said.

"Wow! How come we don't see? Very funny. I should know better that there are so many students here" I hope we would be running into each other more often?" I asked while we both chuckled.

"Yeah sure," she said as she dismissed herself.

Before I knew it, Manik was out of my sight and I didn't know where he ran off too.

During lunch, I looked around the cafeteria thinking I would catch a glimpse of Manik but he was nowhere to be found even Maddy. It felt strange and was kinda obvious that something was definitely wrong somewhere. Manik doesn't associate with so many people here, he has always kept to himself. No one doesn't even know where he lives and with all of this, he was still popularly known. Even when most people spread rumours of how he got his money he never cared because he knew those rumours wouldn't last more than a day.

Lunch period was getting too long for my liking since my favourite person is out of sight and his whereabouts aren't known yet.

My last period was also slow for my liking and boring to be exact. All I wished for was for the bell to be rang so I could go home. Immediately they rang the bell, I wasted no time to pack my books and leave the school premises. I almost forgot about my group assignment. I had to look around for Dhruv so we could do the assignment at his house. I saw him talking to Navya in front of her locker. I've always noticed how Navya looks at him and how she laughs at every silly joke he makes.

"Hey !I'm ready, can we leave now?" I asked

"Oh yeah sure," he said as he prepared to leave.

"What are you guys going to do?" She asked

"None of your business" Dhruv said and we left immediately, leaving her speechless.

When we got to his car, he opened the door for me to enter and he hops into his car and drove away. We stopped in front of a big mansion, Dhruv pressed the password so we could drive into the mansion. The mansion looked breathtaking and I couldn't stop looking around with amazement. We walked towards the mansion as we were greeted by one of the maids who took Dhruv school bag away from him and placed it somewhere around the corner. He took me upstairs and my mouth was wide open when he took me into his room. How could somebody be this rich? I asked myself.

"Make yourself comfortable," he said as he walked out of his room. Someone knocked at the door as I told the person so come in. The maid I met earlier walked in with a tray of cookies and chocolates and a drink. She placed it on the table that wasn't so far away from me. "I was asked to bring this for you by a young master," she briefly said and left.

Not too long, Dhruv came in and sat beside me.

"I didn't even know you were this rich" I blurted out and he just laughed.

"It is not my money it is my dad's money so there is absolutely nothing to brag about," he said.

"Hmm true" I didn't know what else to say.

"Let's get started," he said as I brought out my book.

All we did throughout the whole day was trying to create a poem.
