Shadows of Darkness

~Chapter 13~

The next morning I woke up to a loud bang coming from right beside me. Ethan had fallen off the bed.

"Ughhhh!" He groans as he gets back up.

"Hahaha, are you alright Ethan?" I laugh.

"Yeah I don't even know how I fell off, guess it's just cause I'm clumsy." He explains.

As he talks I notice that his eyes are blotchy and red. It looks like he's been crying for a very long time.

"Ethan, have you been crying? Don't lie to me." I ask as I sit beside him on the edge of the bed.

"I'm not gonna lie to you Cassie, yes I have been crying." He says in an empty voice.

"Why?" I ask, puzzled at why he would be crying.

"It's just about last night... I shouldn't have brought you here. If you were hurt I would've never forgiven myself. That's why when you were asleep I put all our things back in the car. I'm ready to leave when you are." He says as he stands up and stares at me from beside the bed.

"Are we going to say bye to Imogen before we leave?"I ask.

"No I've already told her the situation. Go get cleaned up so we can go, I need to go buy something at the shops." He says, walking out of the room.

I go have a shower and change my clothes. We get back into my jeep and Ethan offers to drive.

"You know what's weird Ethan?" I ask him as he starts the engine.

"What isn't weird?" He laughs.

"Well I was thinking about how we like meet and stuff. I went off with a total stranger, and I let a total stranger drive me places and sleep in my car. I've always been shy, but with you I was different, and I don't know why..." I explain.

"Maybe because it's because of my looks." He says as he runs his fingertips through his hair, winking at me.

"How did you find me Ethan?" I ask once again.

"As I said before, you will find out at the right time. Now is not the right time." He answers, turning the radio on.

The song 'we will rock you' by queen comes on and Ethan starts singing at the top of his voice.

"WE WILL WE WILL ROCK YOU!" He sings as I laugh.

I join in and somewhere during the song he grabs my hand (he was driving with one hand of course) and pulls over on the side of the road.

"What are we doing-"

And before I even have time to finish my sentence he leans over and our lips interlock and my body starts to tingle. We kiss for what feels like an eternity, neither of us wanting to pull away, but eventually one of us does. I had just had my first kiss.

As we pull away Ethan looks me in the eyes and says 3 words, the 3 words I never expected to hear from anyone ever again. "I love you."
