I didn't know what to say. What exactly do you say to a guy that has just admitted he is in love with you? I think to myself.

"Eth-"

I am cut off by my phone ringing. I take it out of my short pocket to check it and it's my aunt. Surely she doesn't think I would answer.

"ETHAN! MY AUNTS CALLING!" I scream, my voice filled with fear.

"Don't answer! Just wait... See if she leaves a voice mail." He says as he re starts the engine, completely forgetting about the kiss that happened just moments before.

I wait and wait for the call to end. After an eternity of waiting it finally did and Ethan was right. My Aunt Leila did leave a voicemail.

I open the voicemail and put it on speaker, having no idea what it could contain. "Cassandra Young. This has gone way to far. Your Uncle and I have called the police and they are searching for you. They know your in California and when they find you you will be brought straight back to us. We have decided against shipping you back to the foster home. See you soon."

"Cassie, it's fine. They won't find you, I promise." Ethan says in a soft voice.

I start crying. I had completely forgotten about my aunt and uncle until this morning. I was actually having fun.

"Ethan they just ruin everything. I can't go back to them, I cant." I cry.

Ethan rubs his right hand soothingly on my back. It's a simple gesture, but it makes me feel protected and loved.

"And you won't go back. That is my promise to you. But now we have to continue on our journey and go to the shopping centre. I have something I need to buy." His face lights up with a almost cheeky smile.

"Oh Ethan, you are one mysterious boy." I say, wondering what on earth he would buy at 9:00am for two teenage runaways.
