For days, they kept an eagle eye on both women.

With Jade, it was easy for Luca to keep a watchful eye on her, they worked well together and it was not unusual for them to spend hours together, be it at the office or wherever business took them.

As for Simone, it was slightly harder for Luca to spend more than an hour or two with that infuriating woman.

Much to his friend's amusement, Marcus constantly teased him, reminding him that he should suck up and take it like a man, after all, Simone could be holding the future of the pack in her "lovely" body.

As Luca sat in his office alone, after a disastrous lunch with Simone, he was deep in thought, wondering again for the life of him, why his wolf had remained silent and not alerted him of the fact he was about to make a huge mistake.

Moreover, the other thought came to mind, was why neither women were coming forward. With Simone it was the usual sexual innuendos that filtered out of her mouth, so he would not know if what she was saying, was real or not.

And with Jade, she maintained her usual proficient business self.

Yes...her heart rate would pick up the moment he entered the room, but then it would go back to its normal pace, which was no indication as to how she was actually feeling, since she did that from the moment she began to work for him two years back.

With Jade it had been a gradual admiration for the young hard-working woman, even though she covered herself in drab business suits, he had seen behind the mask she tried to hide behind.

He respected her and they worked well together, she was one of the few in-tuned with his needs, making her one of the most important person in his life, that he had surrounded himself with, trusting only a few in his group of friends and family.

He had found her slightly attractive, but he nipped the attraction in the butt, drawing a line in crossing business with pleasure, especially if the other person was human, it was too much of risk, unless they were your destined or chosen mate.

Whereas, Simone was a different story, she was a power hungry shewolf, determined to set her claws into him. Since his sister brought her home to meet the family, Simone had spent every waking moment trying to insinuate herself into his life.

If it was up to him, she would only be a regular pack member, but because of her ties to his sister, he had to tolerate her nuisance. And unfortunately it wasn't going to happen anytime soon, his sister only saw the good in people.

Sighing in tiredness, he gazed out towards the city skyline, wondering how much more he should handle in life.

About five years ago, he had suffered the utter betrayal of his true mate, when she rejected him for another and now...with his blind stupidity, he could be tied down to a woman, because she carried his pup.

On the one hand he was happy to have a child, he had always dreamt of having one of his own, to love and care for.

But, on the other hand, whomever was carrying his pup, was the big issue.
