Patton lightly brushed the purple gem in front of him. "So, what gem is it?" he asked again.

Logan gently picked the purple gem up. "It's not an amethyst, that's obvious by the shape. It's actually Ametrine. You can tell by the streak of amber through the gem itself. These gems tend to be information gatherers, not unlike peridots, and specialize in warning others about possible issues."

"I wonder where they came from." Patton wondered out loud, "And also why they were in the whatchamacallit."

"Omega Kindergarten." Roman corrected Patton. "And as I said, I was patrolling, looking for any corrupted gems, when I just stumbled upon the gem."

Just then, the gem started to glow, and floated up a few feet. It morphed into a boy with a dark purple cloak, and black clothes. His hair was also purple, but his face had an amber streak running across it, similar to Roman's. The boy gracefully landed both feet on the ground and looked around. He looked scared, and once he got his bearings, he scampered away. Unfortunately, he found himself cornered in the small apartment and glanced back at the three other gems.

"Hey, hey, calm down." Patton approached Ametrine slowly. "We aren't going to hurt you."

Ametrine looked a little less frightened, but still crammed himself into the corner he was sitting in.

Patton kneeled down. "I know you're scared, but you're safe now."

"Roman." Logan said sternly. "Put your sword away. You're scaring this new gem."

Patton glanced back at Roman, who'd drawn his sword as soon and Patton had begin to approach the fearful gem. Roman reluctantly put his sword back into his gem. "He could be dangerous! For all we know, he could be a homeworld gem!"

"I know Roman."

"But he might be evil!"

"I know Roman."

"He was in the Omega Kindergarten! We have to be careful-"

"I know Roman."

Patton sighed and ignored Logan and Roman. "Hey, how about you and I go somewhere a little more quiet and more spacious?" Ametrine nodded. "Okay, here follow me." Patton led the gem into the attic. "It's super dusty, sorry, but it's the quietest part of the house. It also has a lot of spiders, but I'm gonna pretend not to notice." Patton laughed sheepishly.

"Spiders?" Ametrine finally spoke. He sounded a bit excited.

"Um, yeah. I'm not a fan though."

"Oh, well I love spiders."

"Really?"Patton was surprised. "Well, I know who to call if there's a spider in my room!"

Ametrine gave a half-hearted smile, before turning serious again. "Anyways, who are you and where am I?"

"Oh, I'm Patton and this-"

"Patton? I've never heard of that gem before."

"Well that's just my nickname. The Jasper downstairs goes by Roman and the Sapphire goes by Logan.

"So what gem are you?" The Ametrine asked curiously.

"I... Don't like to talk about it." Patton said quietly.

"Oh. Sorry, I didn't mean to upset you, I mean-"

"No, It's okay." Patton said. "Anyways, you're in our apartment. We're the Crystal Sides. We find corrupted gems and bubble them so they can feel at peace, and can't hurt anyone else."

"Oh..."

"So," Patton leaned forward a little. "How about you tell me a little about yourself?"

The Ametrine hesitated. "Being fully honest, since I reformed, I can't remember anything."
