Moving from Chicago to New York was a big step in my life, but I was ready for a fresh start. Finding out that your boyfriend of 3 years was cheating on you with one of your coworkers called for a big change like this. A new start would hopefully give me a new freedom and an actual chance at happiness.
I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Avery and I now work as a publisher for Time magazine. I have no idea how I got so lucky to be working as one of the publishers for such a big magazine company, but I think it was good karma for getting out of whatever relationship, if you could even call it that, back home.
I was able to find a decent size house for rent in Staten Island, which wasn't my first choice when I was told I got the job in New York. But the neighborhood seems great and the people seem friendly enough, not that im the social type.
Gee what else can I say about myself. I like to read in my free time, which doesn't really come as a surprise, but sitting outside on a sunny day with a book in hand is one of the best feelings in the world. I love sitting in the parks of new york, enjoying coffee with a new book. I also love the water. I have always felt calm by the ocean or a lake. I have only been on one cruise in my life and it was life changing. I'm hoping with this new job and higher pay grade it will allow for more travel and some new books. If my face isn't shoved into a book then I'm probably just relaxing inside with either a favorite tv show or movie. I would list some of my favorites but that list is too long. I also just love seeing old friends. Some close friends are visiting in two weeks and possibly making the transition out here as well. They work in completely different fields but we just can't stand being away from each other.
Ok but enough of the boring stuff. Let’s get into what you really came here for. Let's begin the story of how meeting a single man, accompanied by his three lifelong friends, would completely change my life.
