Once we got inside, Sal asked if we wanted anything to drink, which reminded me to hand him his Sprite.
"I also brought popcorn, because you can't watch movies without popcorn." Murr threw his arms up in the air and screamed WOO. I laughed a little.
"I'll just have water." Q turned to me. "Just water? Grab her a beer Sal. Is beer okay, do you like beer?"
"I'll take a beer I guess." I laughed and was handed an Rubsam and Hormann IPA beer and smirked. "Ooh I've heard this beer is horrible. Supposedly it's owned by a terrible man." I smirked at Q, full-knowing that this was his beer company. He laughed and said, "Take a sip and tell me that's not the best beer you've ever had." I had to admit it was pretty good.
"Ok enough about beer, what movie did everyone bring?" Joe said with fake annoyance in his voice. Murr said, "Well I brought Con Air."
"The Nicolas Cage movie?" I questioned. "Yeah." Murr smiled, "Not many people have heard of it."
Joe chimed in, "Well I brought Airplane, which is a classic." Sal said he chose Christmas Story because it was his favorite growing up. Q came up to the kitchen island where we were all standing and said, "Well i brought Ghostbusters because that is obviously the best movie of all time." Then all of the boys looked at me, wondering what I brought.
I pulled the DVD from my bag, "Planes, Trains and Automobiles obviously. It's one of the greatest movies ever made and John Hughes is by far the greatest director."
"Ohh we have a John Hughes fan." Sal high fived me after his comment and smiled. He then added, "I say we watch that one first, seeing as you're the newbie here." I smiled and blushed a little bit, remembering that everyone but me in the room had been friends for many years at this point.
I opened up the popcorn box and grabbed a bag and said, "Anyone else want some?" 4 hands shot up in the air and I smiled. "Sal, where do you keep your.." Before I could say the word bowls Q was behind me with 5 perfect sized bowls. I smiled at him and thanked him. I worked on getting the popcorn ready while Sal set up the movie. Everyone was already in the living room sitting, some already eating their popcorn. I grabbed my bowl and headed out to join them. Sal and Joe were sitting on the sofa, Murr was wrapped in a blanket on the recliner and Q was by himself on the 'loveseat.' When I walked into the room he patted the open spot next to him. I smiled and very happily sat down next to him. My heart was beating out of my chest. Was I really going to be next to Brian for 5 movies? This quite possibly will be the greatest night of my life.
..... about an hour and a half later.....
"Now tell me that is not the greatest movie of all time. A hilarious comedy with just the perfect amount of heartfelt moments that brings joy and warmth. I mean John Candy will always be one of the greatest actors and I think this movie perfectly portrays his real-life character." Sal clapped after my little speech and said "I will admit that it is a masterpiece, but nowhere near as good as A Christmas Story."
Joe added, "It also doesn't have the slap-stick comedy of airplane." I sighed and thought to myself, "These men will never understand."
Murr chimed in, "So who's next?" To which Joe's hand shot up in the air and before we could argue he was climbing over Sal to get to the DVD player. We all laughed as Sal tried pushing Joe off of him. As Joe was struggling to get past, he gave Sal a kiss on the cheek which sent everyone else into hysterics. I couldn't believe that this was all actually happening right in front of me, after years of watching these guys doing this kind of thing on TV. After Joe sat back down I shifted in my seat a little because my legs were pulled up under me. Q leaned in and whispered, "You can rest your legs on me if you want, I know sitting like that for a while can get uncomfortable." I smiled and moved so my legs were draped across his lap. I saw Sal look over at us and smile and turn his attention back to the movie. It felt kind of weird being this comfortable with Q after only knowing him for a day, but it was nice. I don't know if it's because I've watched the show for so long and it just felt like I've known him for a while, or if we just had that strong of a connection, but I'm not complaining.
